THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES

Do you think racism and race or class exploitation ended with the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation? Do you think that the conditions of the African-American, and the abject poverty of third world countries are the results of "natural developments?" DO YOU THINK OUR CHILDREN ARE FAILING IN SCHOOLS AND FACING LIVES OF SLAVE LABOR, CRIME, IMPRISONMENT AND/OR DEATH BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST NATURELY INFERIOR? It's an old game, being played on a generation that is failing to learn, research and know it's history.

I`m a social activist, intellectual and historian with a hell of a lot on my plate. Todays generations have forgotten where we`ve come from and what we`ve been through. Many are not even interested in learning. The struggle to politically educate, unify and have our people liberate ourselves is a full time endeavor. It takes very strong and special men and woman to join together and create the direction, mission, purpose and passion needed to bring about productive, meaningful and lasting change. We need Super men and women? No! Just natural men and women with a natural desire and commitment to our children's future. Each one teaching one. Each one doing what we already know is the right thing to do. Being focused and disciplined, with purpose and commitment. Why? Because that`s the kind of Afriecan-American men and women the struggle needs.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

The powers that be are engaged in a vicious war against our children, they are subjecting them to povery, allowing drugs to flow, like water, through our communities and then spring their traps, swendles and pitfall that lead our children to the grave or prison. Our schools, while giving information, makes no meaningful connection to our young peoples futures and pursuits of happiness. While we know all people aren't academically inclined, we allow the system to remove all vocational potential trainings and testing from the early grades. They make our children feel ashamed and worthless because they can't keep good grades. They begin to develop low self-esteem and loose interest in school. While, all the time, it's a natural reality that all children aren't destined to be road schalors or rockit scientist. We the adults have to take the lead in telling the powers that be, Enough is Enough, we will stand for it no longer. And, we must begin to stand, stand tall and proud and fight with all we have. We shill over come. We must protect our children, our future and destiny. We have to put pressure on the government to provide the money and survices we are justly due, because we are tax paying citizens and have a right to them. But, the real needs of our children are our's to bear. We have to identify the problems our children are confronting and create our own social and political programs and institutions to help and assist them in becoming all they can be. That means we are going to have to come out of our parkets, sacrafice the club or movies or get high or fancy cars and rings. Donate to the future of our children. ' MORE TO COME ON THIS SUBJECT.

THE BLACK WOMAN`S CHALLENGE

Recently I read a report that alarmed me to no end. The report stated that "The African-American Woman" has the highest death rate in the counrty. Taking this information as fact, it becomes a major challenge for African-American women to take a leadship role in reaching out to one another. The need for you all to put aside all differences and be there for one another is pass due. Sisters are going to have to stop looking down on each other and give one another a helping hand. Create workshops with older African-American women and listen to the moral values they have to share and pass on to you. Get the word %#&@$! and %#&@$! out of your user language. Be always conscious of who you really are in the sceems of a political society. You are the African-American woman. The African who is desendants of former slaves in America. You are the most powerful African-Woman in the world, if only becuase you are a citizen of the most powerful country (USA) in the world. Your ability to vote says you have the ability to influence the policies and legislation of the American Government [don`t tell nobody I told you so]. African-American women have the largest (minority) voting block in the country, out numbering African-American males three-to-five-to-ten in various parts of the country. Africans from other parts of the world have little effect on the American voting process.

Your challenge my sister`s is to work to build each other. Form the necessary groups that will bring families and communites together. Begin the process of an independent African-American governmental structure (within a structure). We must begin to use our brain power and money to protect ourselves as individuals, families and communities. You African-American woman have all you need inside of you. I challenge you to put aside all differences and focus on the massave task ahead. From a Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Mate and Friend...The Afrocan-American Male.

GO FORWARD MY SISTERS AND MAY GOD AND THE SPIRITS OF OUR HONORED ANCESTOR`S BLESS YOU, PROTECT YOU AND GUIDE YOU TO SUCCESS AND A MORE HUMAN WORLD OF THE FUTURE.

IF THE TRUTH BE KNOWN<o:p>

By Lawrence Ghana Hayes<o:p>

The African-American woman has become a weapon in the destruction of the African-American family. The Willy Lynch doctrine declares: "break the (black woman) and she in turn will break or produce or raise slaves for generations to come." The African-American woman has carried a lot of psychological, emotional and physical abuse on her shoulders since the snatching of the first African from the shores of Africa. She's been raped, used and abused. She's watched her son's and men beaten, broken and lynched. She has had to raise male and female children into a world that has been the cruelest and most difficult to survive in, for any race at any other time in the history of human social development. Somehow, by some means she has managed to make it possible for the African-American to be here "today." Yes, we may be damaged! And, still facing the tremendous odds of a technologically advance state of oppression, but, somehow, by some means African-American women have seen us through. The important thing is that, in what ever shape we are in, we are here. And, like the saying goes, "you have to be in it to win it." No matter what else, for bringing us alone, the African-American woman needs to be acknowledged and held up above all other women within the shores of <st1:place>North America. We honor you Mommy's, Sister's, Aunty's, Wave's and Lover's. But, we say to you, "The Struggle Continues," and the burden of seeing us through still rests heavily on your tender shoulders. But you should know, God and the Spirits of our nobler ancestors walk with us and will never give us anything to do that can not be achieved.

TO SINGLE MOTHERS

A teacher of African/African-American history, I would like to impart some historical wisdom to you single mothers. What I am saying doesn't come lightly. I have thought long and hard and prayed to God and our more noble ancestral Spirits to help guide me in reaching the decision about what I now have to say to you. Sisters, it is time to raise warriors. In the course of our struggles here in North America, you have raised the best of slaves, artisans, scientist, builders, and the like. Our contributions to the greatness of America make America what it is today. You have raised soldiers whose contributions have changed the courses of America's wars, in America's favor, at the most critical moments of those wars. Now is the time to raise soldiers to protect us, as a people. One of the major problems we have faced is our inability to safeguard our communities, protect our investments and retaliate against those who would seek to destroy our dreams, wrack our achievements and impede our forward progress; all because we as African-American men have lost the controlled and directed spirit of the warrior. We need our very own military organization. And, we don't need or desire the approval of any other people, group or government to make that a reality for us.

Take the story of NANDI; the Mother of Africa's greatest warrior and hope in stopping the European Rape and exploitation of Africa and its people. NANDI gave birth to Shaka Zulu, out of wedlock. The Father was Sinzanzakona, the Prince of the Zulu King, Amma Zulu. But, Sinzanzakona refused to acknowledge Shaka. He went on to marry another Zulu woman and have children. NANDI, while not giving in to bitterness, did take the anger and betrayal she felt and carefully breeded it into her son, Shaka Zulu. And, Shaka harvested it and trained, night and day, to become a warrior and leader of men. It is very important to acknowledge that, in raising Shaka, NANDI gave him "PURPOSE!" Shaka was the first son of the Prince of the mighty ZULU nation. His purpose was to prepare himself for that most important roll, to claim the thrown when his true father passed on. And so, with that purpose, Shaka strived. Everything he did, or did not do, focused on or around the "purpose" of inheriting the role of a Zulu Prince. Shaka, at a very early age saved the life of another African Prince, Dingishwayo, of the Muthewa nation, who brought Shaka into his friendship and shared his vision of "a United Africa, with Shaka. Even equally important, was the fact that Dingishwayo had recently visited the West African Cost and brought back knowledge of the European invasion and slave trade.

Dingishwayo recognized Shaka's plight and provided him with protection against Zulu warriors sent to kill him by his father, Sinzanzakona. Dingishwayo also recognized Shaka's talents, abilities and genius as a warrior and tactician and provided Shaka with his own military unit to train.

In history Shaka is said to have been <st1:place>Africa's greatest hope, because a part of his long range strategy was the fact that he was consciously studying the European gun. He had set in motion plans to reproduce the gun. Had this goal been achieved there is no question that, under his wise military leadership, the European would have been pushed out of <st1:place>Africa. And, in the case of similar historical events, (especially with Shaka armed with the political vision of Dingishwayo), the result would have been a UNITED AFRICA.

The primary point of this discussion is to assure Single mother's that you can raise a male child; it is in the "purpose" you raise him for that will determine the out come. Can you imagine what your male child would be like if you taught him that Africa is his first home, and belongs to him by birth right? That his goals, and purpose in life, should be to unite with his African bothers and sisters to govern our people, control our land and protect our interest in a healthy and productive future for all African people (and, therefore, the world)? That his role, as an African born outside Africa proper, is to gain the knowledge, develop the skills and produce the means by which he would act as the central trade representative of Africa, for the billions of natural recourses that are currently swindled out of Africa, by all other nations, on a daily bases today? That building bridges of unity and partnership with our brothers and sisters in African should be the goal of every African, no matter where we find ourselves. That is one reason why Western Eucation and Skills are important.

So, what do you think? I think you need to give the male and female child a real purpose in life. "PURPOSE, IS THE ROOT OF HUMAN, INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE DIRECTION AND ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE."

AFRICAN AMERICAN POPULATION DECREASE

It seems that the United States Government and New York City has some explainign to do. Resent population reports have indicated that the African-American polulation in New York State has decreased by 30,000 between 2000 and 2006. Those are serious numbers and serious inquires need to be made about the causes of this decrease. In addition, some independent African-American commission needs to be set up to accertain that the number is in fact 30,000 and not higher. They need to be granted the authority to look at other areas that threaten the quality of life and health of the African-American population. We are living in serious times and this generation has to realize that racism and genocide didn`t go away with the signing of the Civil Rights Bills of the 1960`s. African-American`s need to get our acts together. We have to start with each and every individual...STOP! TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF...ARE THE THINGS YOU`RE DOING A PART OF THE PROBLEM? OR A PART OF THE SOLUTION? It`s time to get realer than real. No one cares about us, especially, if we don`t care about ourselves.

I AM HUMBLED AND HONORED TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT BROTHER OSSIE DAVIS WAS (AND WILL ALWAYS REMAIN) A PERSONAL FRIEND AND ICON OF MINE. AS ACTOR/ACTRESS BROTHER OSSIE DAVIS AND SISTER RUBY DEE, WERE JUST AS ACTIVE AND COMMITTED TO THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN STRUGGLE AGAINST RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION; AS WERE DR. MARTIN L. KING JR. AND ROSA PARKS. THEY REFUSED TO PLAY IN ROLLS THAT DEMEANED OR EXPLOITED THE AFRO-AMERICAN IMAGES OF MALES, FEMALS, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. ONE WOULD SEE BOTH AT ANY NUMBER OF EVENTS, EXPOSING THINGS THAT UNDERMINDED OUR STRUGGLE AND ALWAYS GIVING ENCORAGEMENT TO THE RIGHTOUSNESS OF OUR STRUGGLES. I LOVED BROTHER OSSIE DAVIS, AS I DID MY OWN FATHER, AND THIS IS MY WAY, HUMBLE THOUGH IT MAY BE, OF PAYING TRIBUTE AND HONORING A GREAT ICON AND EXAMPLE OF AFRO-AMERICAN MANHOOD.

THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN'S STRUGGLE/THE NEED TO ORGANIZE

As a point of observation, the African-American (Descendants of so called slaves in the USA) are at a very critical point in history. From my personal observations of daily life and what I read concerning the status of our ethnic grouping, we have no alternative than to wake up and unite or to become, literally, exstinct over the next 50 to 1000 years. A part of the problem the African-American faces is found in our historical ability to identify with all Aricans. However, the sad fact of the matter is that Africans, from other parts of the world look upon us as a disorganized and nationally confused group of African descents. So that the issue of the impact of other Africans and how they relate to the African-American and our lack of unity, is a very important matter. At the core of everything is the fact that the African-American must pat everything else aside and focus every once of our energy on unification.

Let me make this clear from the out set, this is not, in any way, an attack upon the presence of Africans from other parts of the world. It is a call for the African-American to put aside the Willie Lynch syndrone, unify and take our rightful place in the historical struggle for African/African-American Independence. But that can not be done without taking a hard, raw look at the challengeS before us. In fact, I am quite impressed with the sense of identy and cooperation I daily witness in the ranks of our brothers and sisters from other parts of the world. I will go further to appeal to all of you, to assist in the efforts to organize the African-American, who is to play the most critical roll, in very critical struggles to come. Every situation the African-American has encountered has had the mark of european racism and economic exploitation. You can possess no doubt that the current condition of the African-American is no different.

One of the impacts immergrant populations have had has been to make it very difficult to keep track of "what's happening to the African-Americn." The other, more destrubing, matter the African-American must be concerned with is "the roll immergrants are playing on the historical legacy our African-American ancestors have passed on to us." A legacy of struggle and change. From the likes of Nat Turner, Harritte Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, W. E. B. DuBois, Rosa Parks, Martin L. King, Angela Davis, Malcolm X, Cathy Cleaver, and Thurgood Marchal (excuse my spelling) The Black Panther Party-for self-defense and countless others. I have observed power struggles that the new generations of African-American youth are completely unconscious of and all to often participate in to the end result of, literally, giving away gains that were derived from the blood, sweat and tears of untold numbers of our ancestors.

My first observation deals with the issue of our inability to "identify" ourselves. Over the past 40 years Africans from all over the globe have come to American to, many say, seek opportunity. But in thruth, when you look at the conditions of the lands they left, it is clear they are here in America to excape the poverty and injustice of the native countries. Conditions that we all know have and continue to exist because of Western and Eastern European manipulations of the economic and political structures of the governments involved. This is done by either direct influence or complete indiference. This inability to isolate the African-American, hides the fact that we are targets of a conspiracy aimed at "eratdicating" any signs of organization on the part of the African-American (especially among African-American youth).. If this idea sounds like something you've heard mentioned before, take tiime to go online and look up COINTELLPRO. This project was developed and activated, by the FBI, to eradicate and destroy both the African-American Civil Rights and Black Liberation Movements of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. One of the major points in this document called for the government to prevent any efforts by African-Americans to develop militant organizations (especially, among youth), by any means necessary. Many immergrants are not aware of or understand the impact of programs such as COINTELLPRO. That the results of COINTELLPRO, which is alive and in full swing today, can be seen in the African-American disproportunate representation in this nation's death rate, HIV, prisons, drugs addiction, misfit gang activity, unimployement, under education and otherwise socially and politically misguided and misdirection of the African-American community's talents and focus.

SOME TIPS ON REVERSING THE BACKWARD TREND

Quite seriously, the first line of defense against programs like those instituted by the Willie Lynch Syndron and COINTELLPRO can be found the opposit nature.

(1) Where we have been conditioned tobe set against and upon eachother, through finding fault and condamnation, the appropriate direction for us is to start by "forgiving" our brothers and sisters for past deeds done. It will be difficult, but the end result will help to prevent the continued self abuse we have been commiting against ourselves and our communities. Seek to forgive all past deed and obtain reconition for wrongs done and a commitment to atone by working within and onbehalf of the African-American community.

(2) The second is "Love" (we have become experts at finding ways to dislike, even hate, eachother) we must now concentrate on finding reasons and ways to love one another. We can start this phase by simply going out of our way to be polite and helpful to one another.

(3) The third is "Cooperation" (we accomplish this aspect by sharing our knowledge, skills and abilities. i.e., you are a teacher, barber, plumber, painter, computer expert, etc., help by setting up weekly workshops for children and adults interested in leasrning).

(4) The forth pahase involves "protection" seeking always to protect and look out for yourself, family and people in your community....not to create diference as much as to develop and activate a sense of security for individual and collective well being. We have to stop being affraid of each other. The only way to accomplish this now is for us to work over-time to reverse our insecure feelings and attitudes and replace them with positive ones.

(5) The fifth is to "begin work on an independent African-American Consititution and Bill Of rRights. The goal is to develop a group of social, political and economic institutions, that will develop and promote various rites and rules that will have the goal of uniting our African-American people; no matter where we are on the face of the planet (or beyond).

Bringing political stability to the African dispora can, in turn, only help the cause of uniting all Africans. It is time that Africans outside of Africa proper, realize that Africa is our homeland. We have both an interest and stake in how Africa is effected by the rest of the world. When Africa is free and participating in the world community as a developed nation, all Africans, no mattere where we are, will be truly free. We must not and can not continue to fool ourselves. Our futures are tied to the future of Africa. And, we must begin to march toward unity, no matter where we are, by any means necessary.

SURVIVING AN ECONOMIC CATASCRAOPHY

I have been experiencing difficulty with my computer, so I'm not on as often as I would like. At any rate, I am becoming more and more concerned, with every passing day, about how worse this "recession thing" affects the average citizen, especially the African-American or the poor urban population in general. That is another issue I would like to cover, if the idea I suggested about organizing a conference, proves worthily... I would like... (continue reading)

I believe we need to organize a conference to discuss topics of interest to BP members. Right now I have two topics that I believe are of immediate importance to the overwhelming majority of women on tagged. I would like to discuss the issue of single women headed households that are raising male children.

I am not trying to pick an argument, but I believe we must start with the reality that the 85% of women headed households... (continue reading)

Another very important topic is that of "The Criminal Justice and Prison Industrial Complex." I have research that clearly points to a pattern of legislation and concentration on the part of New York Politicians and Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement officials that both target and victimizes African-American and Hispanic youth for the sole purposes of supporting the economic structure and stability of Upstate New York Counties. Parents and our youth need to... (continue reading)
