funny clips and politics

you ever find yourself wanting something for someone more than they want it for themselves? pretty damn frustrating! but you gotta let it go and allow them to make their own decisions. the hardest thing is shutting up even when you think its a mistake. i dont like to silence myself or sensor myself around people even though you need to sometimes. on to funnier things....

i found this and i dont know what to say bout it. funny as hell... (continue reading)

hip hop on life support?

hip hop on life support.

As a member of the hip hop generation, I have seen this movement morph from the forbidden music that denigrated women and reveled in the misery of urban black America into this universal language that is now a billion dollar industry and now, so it seems, back again. As a youth I grew up in the church, and I was instilled with certain precepts of hip hop music. Not only did I believe what I was force fed from the religious right regarding... (continue reading)

powerful words

This is an excerpt from Nelson Mandela's inagural speech in 1994. I read this on someone elses page and was in awe after i read it to say the least...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabolous?Actually, who are we not to be?You are a child of... I'm still riding high right now because I went to see Musiq and Lyfe at the Taste Of Chicago thursday. First to the stage was Lyfe who i must say i am not a big fan of, but gave an above average performance. I dont care for his voice. (It insist upon itself) Yeah it's unique, but his tone is terrible and his vibrato sucks %#&@$!. But I will say this, he sounds better live than on cd. He showed vocal ability and range that I really didnt expect from him. He does need to pay closer... (continue reading)

Check out this video: deandre brunston vs. la sheriffs office

So if you dont know, i'm something like a ghetto sociologist. I am always watching the news and reading about different things just because... The more you know, the further you go... Now i was watching ABC nightly news and saw some really disturbing %#&@$!. They said that even though New York is twice the size of Philly, the number of murders in Philly is substantially higher. Now... (continue reading)

nigga this, nigga that

Here we go again with all this nigga sh!t!. Alright heres the deal. I like using the word nigga. Its a pronoun, noun, adjective, and possibly a verb if used accurately. I dont use this word half heartedly. I use it with great fervor and a consciousness of company and surrounding. I appreciate everything that the NAACP has done in this fight for equality and justice but could it be that this new fight is not worth it? Could it be that they have lost touch with this post civil... (continue reading)
