Our Magazine Video: Our Heroes

Posted May 20th, 2008 at 12:29pm

[Click appropriate space to view video] How could Our Magazine know exactly who all my heroes actually are? There may be a few they missed, like Paul Robeson, Cornell West, Marion Marable, Chancellor Williams, Dr. Ben, Arthur Ashe (not for tennis but for his African research work near end of his life), Patrice Lumumba, Steve Biko, Lewis Latimer, Louis Farakhan, Tavis Smiley, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, Mary McLeod Bethune, Lucy Laney (forgotten educator who started a black school in Georgia... BLACK MEN'S HALL OF HONOR

personal message

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. . .. Hosea 4:6 ------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ...............................................****************** o o o o o o o o o o ******************................................................ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------Most of my acquaintances and friends consider me to be an intelligent, caring and Christian person. I am not looking for anyone to become close to, but am interested only in conversation. I am an older, college educated female who has spent equal time in the clerical/legal field as in the educational arena. I like creative writing and reading current best sellers and classic literature by African-American authors. I want to try a little writing myself as well as poetry. I am good hearted and light-at-heart in terms of my attitude and demeanor most times. I lean toward activism and respond to appeals from the Peace Movement as well as Civil Rights. My time has long before been spent in Black Civil Rights and History issues, and I have founded, organized and participated in many African-American History organizations, programs and activities. I love my siblings, friends, church members, fellow choir members, and the public in general. My music extends from jazz (especially), soul, some R&B to European classics, international (African) musicians and am open to all music with appeal and adventure. I love art, crafts and artistic works and like to take young people (older ones too) to musuems and programs of learning and experiences that expand their/our knowledge and horizons. I attend Bible Study and visit several denominations. I am open-minded and critical in my thinking. I want to live a life of purpose and am still struggling to fulfill my destiny. If there are any individuals who share my goals and wish to converse, I am open and willing to engage you in conversation. Pictures are not important to me. I'm not looking for pretty faces nor beautiful bodies-- rather beautiful minds. I know you are out there. God bless! * * * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ...............................................****************** o o o o o o o o o o ******************................................................ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************************************************************************************************************************************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * * * * * * * * * * * * NOTICE: Here is a reference to a new site i have discovered. ObamaPrayerTeam
Day 17 Prayer:
Thank You God for giving Barack and Joe excellent spirits and for having favor upon their lives in every situation and circumstance. (Daniel 6:3)
Thank You for General Colin Powell's endorsement and words admonishing the republican party and McCain/Palin ticket for demagoguery.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2U63fXBlFo ) Dear God, in the final days of this campaign, we are reminded of your guidance in Galations 6
encouraging us in the face of demagouery and deception; "Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at. For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap....And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right,
for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint." Let us march on to the finish line with vigor and bold courageousness in Jesus Christ, Ame
