Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.

Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., Chairman of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF) and the National Juneteenth Christian Leadership Council (NJCLC), Congressman Danny K. Davis (D-IL), Chairman of the National Juneteenth Congressional Committee and Senator Barack Obama (D-IL), Senate Host of the U.S. Capitol Juneteenth Congressional Reception, are the invited featured speakers for the 2008 WASHINGTON JUNETEENTH National Holiday Observance

A little poetry I which I had to share...enjoy

The Essence Of A Black Woman

You can see the essence of a black woman when she walks into a room.
Her beauty is like a flower that blooms.
She doesn't need a man to be strong,
Because she remains a woman all on her own.
She overcomes challenges that stands in her way.
The inner strength she has gets her through the day.
She continues to triumph with elegance and grace.
While being a double jeopardy because of her sex and her race.
She is a goal oriented woman with style and confidence.
She never forgets where she comes from and for that she is blessed.
She has faith in God and not ashamed to acknowledge his presence in her life.
She can testify that without him she could never endure any sacrifice.
This black woman of beauty is the mother of all.
And for that we should be proud and stand tall.
Everyone around her can feel her presence.
For she is a Black woman of essence.

Sexy Lady, being a mere mortal I was left speechless after glimpsing at your ravishing beauty throughout your page. I have one way of expressing the much deserved respect and appreciation...poetry. As a proud black man, I want to thank you for being you.

"Ms. Eye Candy.."

Look at you Ms. Lady body carries a mean definition
Sculpted by the heavens, perfection every inch of it
Eyes tell a story of an intimate seduction
Lips grasping my attention losing focus.. Thoughts interrupted by images
of me being the Mac gloss up on it
Face should be on a runway or grazing magazine pages
Walk is hypnotic; turning heads when you enter places
With a look that's exotic could be displayed across the world on stage
There are a few words you hear on an everyday basis like
Damn baby, Excuse me there but, can I get a minute miss lady
Bodies sweet, makes me want to take you on trips to places where it's hot and sandy
So, So, Sweet
I had to nickname you Miss EyeCandy...

PS, whatever is in the water...bottle it. (smile)

Two of these are true about me. No joke. Which one's the lie? Take a guess...
