Welcome to BlackPlanet. Hi there, I'm Tasha. I like old cartoons, 80's music and learning new things. I don't go out much so it is hard for me to meet new friends.

I spend much of my free time making bath products such as bath bombs, bath tea, bath truffles and the latest I've tried is handmand soap. I am also learning to design and assemble jewelry. Someday soon, I would love to learn to blow glass.

I attended Mississippi Valley State University. My major was Computer Science and my minor was Mathematics. I can still kick myself for not finishing! I am presently employed at one of Atlanta's most prestigious universities. I actually have 2 job titles. 1. Manager, Academic Computing Services and 2. Manager, Resident Computer Consultants. For Academic Computing Services I manage about 17 different computer labs across campus. I am responsible for the initial setup of the labs as well as repairing of equipment (computers and printers). For RCC, I manage 8 workstudy students that I personally train to repair fellow student computers. I also back-up the Helpdesk Technicians if they need me.

My plan is by the end of this year (2007) to have earned my MCSE & CCNA Certifications. That is MicroSoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Associate. At present I hold 1 Certification and that one is A+ PC Maintenance and Repair. I have taken the classes for the MCP Certification (MicroSoft Certified Professional) but I have not taken the test.

I am also a Licensed Master Cosmetologist and CEU provider for the State of Georgia. Holding a Master's License, I can not only style hair but provide skin care, nail care, and massage services. I am by no means a hair stylist. As a matter of fact, I hate doing hair. I prefer doing nails, skin care and makeup. I have been spending time attending classes on makeup artistry. I have considered the possibility of becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist. That one is still on the way-back burner. Right now, there just isn't enough time.

My other plan is to be out of the Information Technology industry by 2008 and into the beauty industry full time. I am just burned out on IT. So why get the certifications you say? My answer is this "It is always best to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". Besides, the company is paying for the certifications and a sister always has to have an ace in the hole! Holla if you hear me!

One of my loves is Jazz. I am still learning to love Jazz. Besides Norman Brown, one of my favorite Jazz artist is Boney James. I'm really looking forward to the Atlanta Jazz Festival! I don't really like hip hop. Let me fix that. I don't care for the words in most hip hop tunes but the music is off the chain!

I don't watch a lot of TV. Most of the movies I watch are animated. Stuff like Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke, Spiderman Cartoon old and new, 60's Johnny Quest, Spawn, the animated series, Silver Surfer, Silver Hawks, Thundercats, Voltron, Starship Troopers (Roughnecks) the list goes on. Remember Eddie Murphy's "The PJ's". Love it still! I am not even going to comment on The Boondocks and Afro Samurai!

I'm here to meet new and interesting people. Quite possibly ones who will become real friends or maybe that one whom may become more. But guys to be absolutely clear, if you are involved/married please leave my page. I'm not trying to go there!

I will update my page regularly so stop by every now and then. Feel free to email me or sign my guestbook when you get the chance. My addresss is BLKGRLNATL@GMAIL.COM. I look forward to hearing from my new friends soon.

THIS EDITORIAL WAS TAKEN FROM ANOTHER PAGE I CREATED! Bianca_true2self

Guys and Gals, in the short time I have been on BP, several things have stood out in my mind over everything else. Aside from the fact that there are a lot of lonely people out there, even if we don't admit we are lonely, we are superficial; we can't see the forest for the trees; and we want ready made Kings and Queens.

Guys, some of you say that you want a Halle Berry or a Beyonce. But, you don't have Tyson Beckford's body or Jay-Z's pockets. Some guys have posted shirtless pictures of themselves in an attempt to show off their manly phyques. Fellas ask yourself, "is the type of woman that I want to attract more interested in my outer qualities or my inner qualities"? Physical attraction may be great at first. But, when that's over, can either of you hold an intelligent conversation with the other or other people?

Ladies, some of you say that you want a "Real Man" and you quote scripture on you pages. How "real" will he be if you have sexually explicit content on your page and it's mostly of yourself? You say you want a Denzel. Why would a Denzel type even entertain the idea of meeting you? The only reason I can think of is to hit it and quit it! You also say no "Baby Mama Drama". What about "Baby Daddy Drama"? Explore your options on how you can best deal with the other parent so there is minimal to no drama.

Get dialogs going before you start asking for phone numbers and meetings. At least, make some type of attempt to learn something about the other person. I was once told that "you are on BP just like me. You are taking a chance to". This is true, but it has been a long time since I was 15. And even then, I had better sense than to agree to meet someone without attempting to find out additional information about them first.

There is more role playing, game playing, fantasy making, bogus pictures, bogus profiles and BullSnookie on this site than I care to admit. If you have never seen the person in real life or even spoken with them over the phone, tell me, how anyone can fall in love? IT'S A PICTURE! In fact, a picture that may not even be of the person you have fallen so madly in love with.

Try looking pass the surface for a change. You maybe surprised at what you find. Your king or queen may be right in front of you. He or she may join you at the gym; adopt a healthy eating plan and lifestyle; gain the confidence needed to make positive changes in their lives. Guess what? Love handles need love to. Then you both may get that Tyson and/or Beyonce body. If you haven't seen it yet, check out Tyler Perry's play "Why Did I Get Married", same thing.

Ultimately, nobody and I do mean NOBODY wants to spend their entire life alone. Friends or those friends providing benefits will begin to not quite fill that empty space.

Amidst all this, there are some very extraordinary people on these pages. It is up to the individual to sift through all the misinformation or just plain deceit to find the people who are truly sincere.

Good Luck BP

From the pages of a dear friend!

To those of you who are wondering why it's so hard to find a lasting love the, follow is not a criticism!

There are a lot of lonely people out there grasping for straws and any port in a storm will do. People, lonely sometimes desperate people invent themselves online because life and love for most is hard. Most don't fit our idea of beauty or success. Say what you will but, beauty although skin deep is privileged. We push sex because sex sells; on TV, on the radio and in relationships. It's sad but true.

We and I include myself, because I can only speak from my own experiences and I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else, look more at a person for who they are rather than what they possess.

We're not committed because we haven't learned commitment. In a world where so many thing are disposable its almost impossible to find anyone who believes in long lasting relationship.

We've got disposable diapers, razor and even people. If this gets dirty we go on to the next one. if it's broken why fix it, just throw it away an get another. Hell you might even upgrade!

No one knows what tomorrow may bring and few even care. Lovers, husbands, wives and children are easily replaced in the name of convenience, so many are making time and calling it love.

I want a lover I can call my friend. I want someone who'll be there after the honeymoon ends. You see, love and being in love isn't the good times. It's the bills, the mortgage, and the college tuition for the kids. It's the 2oclock feeding and crying in each others arms. It's being attracted to others but, loving and being faithful to your mate. It's moments of pain but a life time of commitment. It's what's real when you look at the sum total of your life. It's hard to explain but easy to understand. It's what's real to you.

To my sisters out there don't judge us too harshly. It's hard trying to fit into the mold this society has carved out for us. Most haven't lived long enough to appreciate the warmth of a woman or the value of a strong queen. Most didn't have fathers to teach us how to be loving, caring, monogamist men and that love doesn't begin and end in the bed those examples we did have hadn't gotten it right. Brothers show there abs pecks and arms because we believe that that's what you (women) want. We talk about how much we have because most women carry a shovel in their COACH bags.

A lot of women won't step up into their greatness. They're as lost as most of us men are.

Nurturing is a strength you possess and a skill most of us never learned. So try being patient with out being judgmental. Show us kindness and be supportive. Remember the person who proves his intellect by injuring others is just as much a victim as those they injure. Most of us try to prove how smart we are by proving how dumb our partner or others are. It give us a since of superiority and control. I believe if you're truly intelligent, you can be so without anyone even knowing and sparing the feelings of those around you.

The New Transformers Movie & Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer

Posted July 30th, 2007 at 06:02pm

Hey gang. I just watched the new Transformers movie. I thought the movie itself was pretty good. Although I had a few little peeves.

The first was that crap about the cube, the all spark. If you were a fan of the original cartoon series, everyone knows that the Quintessons were the creators of the original robots that the autobots and decepticons evolved from.

The second was the voice of Starscream. If you watched GI Joe and remember the voice of Cobra Commander, that was the... (continue reading)

I Don't Mind

Posted June 19th, 2007 at 02:21pm

This is just what was going through my mind while driving home one day. The title is "I Don't Mind".

I don't mind:
Playing basketball with my son,
Or watching him score that homerun.
Oops, that's baseball!

Painting the house both inside and out,
Patching a hole in the... (continue reading)
