A Covenant With My Eyes

I have made a covenant with my eyes. Job 31:1

Our friend is a computer "techie." One night when our family was at his house, I noticed a verse taped to his monitor: "I have made a covenant with my eyes" (Job 31:1). Evidently, he understood the potential danger of spending hours alone in front of a computer with easy access to indecent images.

Our friend's "reminder verse" is a quote from Job, and it continues, "Why then should I look upon a young woman?" Like many of us... (continue reading)

My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

A well-known actor commented that he enjoyed playing "flawed" characters in movies because people could relate better to an imperfect character. Most of us would agree that it's easier for us to understand people who aren't perfect because we know that we are imperfect.

God included stories in the Bible of people who were deceitful, weak, unreliable, and angry. Take Jacob, for example, who deceived his father... (continue reading)

Glorifying God In Life And Death

This [Jesus] spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. John 21:19

It seems we most often think about how we can glorify God through our lives when we are active and strong. But I wonder if we should also consider how we might glorify God through our death.

After Peter denied Jesus three times (John 18:15-27), the Lord gave him an opportunity to reaffirm his love (21:15-17). Three times, Jesus asked, "Peter, do you love Me?" Then in a surprising change of... (continue reading)

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Psalm 136:1

Joel and Lauren decided to move from Washington State back home to Michigan. Wanting to make one last special memory, they bought coffee from their favorite cafe and then stopped at their favorite bookstore. There they picked up two bumper stickers with a favorite motto of the town they were saying goodbye to: "It's an Edmonds kind of day."

After 2 weeks and a 3,000-mile drive, they entered Michigan. Hungry and wanting... (continue reading)

Great Is Your Reward

Your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. Matthew 6:4

Many businesses have "points programs" that offer rewards to loyal customers. You can stack up these rewards by using their companies' services, like eating at local restaurants, staying at certain hotels, or flying on particular airlines. Choosing to spend your money this way makes a lot of sense.

God has a rewards program as well. Jesus often spoke of His desire to reward us for loyally... (continue reading)

I love cinnamon. I love cinnamon rolls, cinnamon graham crackers, cinnamon candies, cinnamon toast, cinnamon apples, and cinnamon pretzels. Cinnamon is one of those spices that makes other things taste better. However, it never crossed my mind to think about where cinnamon comes from. Then, on a recent trip to Sri Lanka, I learned that 90 percent of all the cinnamon... (continue reading)

What does God promise to those who obey?

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the Lord wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.

Psalm 1:1-3 NLT

Do What He Says

Believers who build their lives on a solid foundation are like the man whom a reporter found in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. Amid the devastation and debris, one house still stood firm on its foundation. The owner was cleaning up when the reporter approached him. "Sir, why is your house the only one still standing?" the reporter asked.

"I built this house myself," the man replied. "I built it according to the Florida state building code. I was told that a house built according to code could withstand a hurricane. I did, and it did! I suppose no one else around here followed the code."

If you have built your life on Jesus Christ and His teaching, you will stand when the storms of life hit. If you are not merely a hearer but a doer of the His Word, you will endure. The true Christian—the one who has built his or her life on the right foundation—will stand the test.

Matthew 7:13-27
13) "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few. 15) Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16) You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17) So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. 18) A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20) Thus you will know them by their fruits. 21) Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22) On that day many will say to me, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23)And then will I declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.' 24) Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; 25) and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26) And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; 27) and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it."

Haters/ By Maya Angelou

A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their
time trying to make you look small so they can look tall.
They are very negative people to say the least.  Nothing is ever
good enough!

When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters...

That's why you have to be careful with whom you share your
blessings and your dreams, because some folk can't handle seeing
you blessed...

It's dangerous to be like somebody else... If God wanted you to be
like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them!  Right?

You never know what people have gone through to get what they
have...

The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they
don't know my story...

If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you
can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!

We've all got some haters among us!

Some people envy you because you can:
      a) Have a relationship with God
      b) Light up a room when you walk in
      c) Start your own business
      d) Tell a man/woman to hit the curb
(if he/she isn't about the right thing)
       e) Raise your children without both parents being
          in the home

Haters can't stand to see you happy.
Haters will never want to see you succeed.
Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be
on our side.

How do you handle your undercover haters?
You can handle these haters by:

            1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are
                *(VERY IMPORTANT!!)

            2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not
mean having a job. You can have a job and still be
                unfulfilled.

A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be.
Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.

            3. By remembering what you have is by divine
                    prerogative and not human manipulation.

Fulfill your dreams!  You only have one life to live...when its your
time to leave this earth, you want to be able to say, 'I've lived my
life and fulfilled my dreams, Now I'm ready to go HOME!

When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, 'Don't look at
me...Look at who is in charge of me...'

Pass this to all of your family & friends who you know are
not hating on you including the person who sent it to you.

If you don't get it back, maybe you called somebody out!
Don't worry about it, it's not your problem, it's theirs.
Just pray for them, that their life can be as fulfilled as
yours! Watch out for Haters...BUT most of all don't become
a HATER!

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man
should have to seek Him first to find her.'

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

IF IT HAVE NOT BEEN FOR THE LORD ON MY SIDE!!

TELL ME WHERE WOULD I BE??

THIS IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT THE NEXT TIME YOU HAVING A TRIAL! JUST LOOK AT WHAT HE HAS BROUGHT YOU THOUGHT. ( WHERE YOU BEEN AND WHERE YOU ARE TODAY)

MAY EVERYONE BE BLESS!  LOU.

ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD

We are assured and know that God
Being a partner in their labor, all
Things work together and are fitting
Into a plan for good  to and for those
Who love God and are called according
To His design and purpose.
ROMANS 8:28

Paul's words bring comfort and peace to many of us in our difficulties and hardships. They give us hope that no matter what hurts and disappointments come in our lives, everything will eventually workout for our good. When we don't know to pray as we ought to, the Holy Spirit come to our aid and prays through us. It is through these Holy Spirit filled prayers that all things work together for good, no matter what they are. Not all things that happen to us are good in and of themselves, but God is good and He can cause them to work toward our good if we trust Him.
Continuing to trust God is the key victory in painful and seemingly unjust situations. Faith and prayer move the hand of God. If we continue believing, He promises to continue moving in our behalf to work everything out for good. God makes this promise to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We must love God with all our hearts, and we must want His will. We must be willing to submit to His plan at all times.

The plan is that God has for us eventually changes us into His image. We are destined to be molded into His image. That may sound spiritual, but in reality it usually hurts. Think of a piece of clay being pressed into a mold and wonder if the clay had feelings. Being changed into a different shape would probably be painful. If we take a lump of clay and press it into a mold, there is always  to much clay to fit,  to be able to fit into the mold of Christ some of you must be discarded, some thoughts, words, and actions. We must go through things that are difficult and learn to respond to them the way Jesus would. We must not give way to fearful thoughts and feelings that attack us. We must learn to remain steadfast, knowing that no matter how things appear now, God will work them out for the good-- and in the process, He will use them to make us better people.

God's purpose in everything that happens is to make us more like Jesus Christ. Jesus was the totally obedient One. "although He was the Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered"
(Hebrews 5:8) we also learn through what we suffer. We learn from God's Word and life's experiences. Because of our sinful nature, we tend to fight God at every point, but this only makes the process longer and more painful. Where the mind goes the man follows. A person who has their faith firmly planted in God cannot be defeated.

In Christ, we are more than conquerors...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read Romans 6 - the whole chapter
and ask the Lord to help you overcome sin
on a daily basis!

By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us--set us right with him, make us fit for him--we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that's not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand--out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

There's more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we're hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary--we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn't, and doesn't, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn't been so weak, we wouldn't have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

Romans 5:1-8 The Message

God Will Judge the Righteous and Wicked

Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:3

Judgment and the Future Belong to God

Moreover I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, wickedness was there, and in the place of righteousness, wickedness was there as well. I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for he has appointed a time for every matter, and for every work. I said in my heart with regard to human beings that God is testing them to show that they are but animals. For the fate of humans and the fate of animals is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and humans have no advantage over the animals; for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knows whether the human spirit goes upward and the spirit of animals goes downward to the earth? So I saw that there is nothing better than that all should enjoy their work, for that is their lot; who can bring them to see what will be after them?

Again I saw all the oppressions that are practiced under the sun. Look, the tears of the oppressed--with no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power--with no one to comfort them. And I thought the dead, who have already died, more fortunate than the living, who are still alive; but better than both is the one who has not yet been, and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.

Worldly Friendship?

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

James 4:1-4 KJV

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

NICKELS:
Have you ever read the book of Acts with longing to be back in that time so you could experience the miracles and the move of the Holy Spirit? Don't worry; He has saved the best wine for last, and the glory of the latter house is going to be greater than the glory of the first (see Hag. 2:9).

We are going to walk in such miracles that there will be no comparison. I would rather be in this move of God than to be in the book of Acts, because this wine tastes better!!!

I want you to notice that the best is yet to come. The Lord has kept back the good wine until the end of the age.
You talk about miracles, signs and wonders?
You haven't seen anything yet!
Let's decide today to pursue Him and His glory so that He can change us into His image and experience the best that is to come!!!! Amen

A BEAUTIFUL WEDNESDAY!!!
GOD has always wanted us to enjoy days on earth. Throughout the bible, we are told promises that are available NOW!
Discover, walk, and enjoy each day!
Remember life is bowl of choices... you have a choice how you want your day to go, how you will allow the things that will transpire throughout this Wednesday to effect you. Choose positive instead of negative!!!
Watch the words that you say, the things that you speak.
Turn the negative words and thoughts into positive ones, and don't be so easily offended. You give other people the power over you, over your day, over your emotions. WHY?
Take the power back and watch how Blessed and Peaceful your day will flow! HAPPY WEDNESDAY

NICKELS:
The Word
Unbelief is blind to good & to God, but it can quickly see everything that is fearful & terrifying. There are some Christians so full of unbelief that it's very difficult to give them any comfort. Their unbelief neutralizes the force of God’s promises in their lives. It deprives them of their right to receive the promised gift. A double-minded man who is unstable won't receive anything from the Lord. Js 1:7-8

Taste this medicine of God's Word for yourself! See how it works!
It is not like so many earthly medicines, bitter and unpalatable. Nor does it works like so many modern drugs, bringing relief to one organ of the body but causing a reaction that impairs some other organ.
NO, God's Word is altogether good, altogether beneficial.
When received according to His direction, it brings life and health to our whole being. AMEN

NICKELS: I've learned that if you stop and think long enough you can always find something to be thankful for. God is looking for somebody to be thankful. He is looking for somebody who will bless His name, someone who will make His praise glorious. We do that by telling Him about His name. Tell what His name has done; tell Him how powerful His name is; tell Him how sweet His name is. Boast about what happens when you call upon His name. Tell Him... because the Lord is worthy, and you're showing His worthy-ship every time you magnify His name.
