If only there were time to answer that third encore would everyone who got a seat to see National Symphony Orchestra musicians collaborate with Artist in Bloom residents Asheru and Tamika "Love" Jones have left satisfied. The forgotten hero who called the collaboration together: Le Chevalier de St-George. Check out the inspiring tribute for yourself: Our mission: Demonstrate how music from different genres and musicians from different traditions can come together to create something beautiful - while bringing their respective audiences along for a unity ride inspired by the music of an extraordinary composer. So filled with emotion, we nearly forgot about the post-performance Q & A! As folks cleared out, we made the announcement that we would take questions and the room filled right back up, to include many who had to listen outside. "When can we hear this again?" and "When can we see the video?" was the echo. Well, for those who want more and those left to listen out in the cold, here it is. One of the most remarkable figures of the 18th century, this son of a slave rose to the top of French society through his mastery of fencing and his genius for classical music. He may very well have been the "King of Pop" of his age; militarily he helped prevent what could have been the early collapse of the French Revolution. In his lifetime, he was an elite musketeer of the King's Horse Guard; a master-swordsman and Europe's fencing champion; a composer, violin impresario, and opera director who influenced Mozart; a playboy; advisor to the king and a military hero- all in an age when slavery was endemic and white superiority was dogma. Special thanks to those behind the scenes who made this video possible: Creative Director: John Chambers Videographers: Tim Sessler, Silas Hagerty Editor: Tim Sessler comments from my friendsYou need to be friends with bloombars in order to leave them a Comment. In the meantime, you can always sign their guestbook. recent blog posts
