I'm a walking, talking, living, breathing, beautiful contradiction; I'm kind and mean, goofy and serious, intelligent and ignorant--we all are of something or another. All in all, I'm just a young black woman in pursuit of truth, black unity and uplift, self discovery and improvement, my purpose in life, and a closer relationship with God.
I'm from Mobile, AL, but I'm currently a senior in school for Sociology/Social Work.
My Interests:
Music-I enjoy listening to almost all genres of music. I'll give anything a shot, as long as it's good music. Yes, I even listen to country!
Reading-I'm pretty versatile in the literature area as well. Types of books I've read range from The Holy Bible, "The Mis-Education of the Negro" and "Huey: Spirit of a Panther" to "Coldest Winter Ever" and "Thugs and the Women Who Love Them." I also enjoy Classic Literature like Shakespeare plays and the like.
Poetry-This could fit under both music and reading, but hey. I don't write poetry but I love to read it and listen to it. I've been trying to go to Spoken Soul Sessions at Dreams for the longest; it'd be great if someone offered to take me...*wink
Facts about Me:
I like to go out every once in a while, but I'm really a homebody.
Some call me deep, others an "activist." I see myself as neither, yet. I still have so much knowledge to gain and I want to put that knowledge to use for the good of my people.
I try to keep an open mind and look at things through different lenses. However, one thing I don't see myself compromising is my Christianity. My faith is unapologetically unchanging.
Just because I'm a Christian doesn't mean I'm a saint. The only difference between a Christian and a person who isn't one is that the Christian repented for her sins and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

I'm working each day on not judging people, but I'll admit it's pretty hard when it looks like the world is going to Hell in a gift bag.
George Bush does not care about Black people. I know I said facts about me, but hey.
The phrase "...the Man..." may pop up frequently (yet jokingly) throughout my dialog w/my peers.
I'm a total klutz.
I'm a goof ball.
My two main pet peeves are cigarette smoke and stupid people.
I intend to travel the world before I leave this earth.
Though I may sometimes take them for granted, God has blessed me with family and friends I wouldn't trade for the world.
