What is this Principle?

10% of life is made up of what happens to you. … 90% of life is decided by how you react… What does this mean? We really have NO control over 10% of what happens to us.  We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in the traffic. We have NO control over this 10%.

The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%. How?... By your reaction. You cannot control a red light. However, you can control your reaction. Do not let people fool you. YOU can control how you react.

Let us use an example… You are having breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee Onto your business shirt. You have no control over what has just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your wife and you criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish her breakfast and getting ready to go to school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles per hour in a 30 mph speed limit zone. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60.00 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minute late, You realize you forgot your briefcase.

Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home. When you arrive home, you find a small wedge in your relationship with your wife and daughter.

Why?  Because of how you reacted in the morning .

Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?
 
The answer is “D” You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say: “ It’s okay, honey, you just need to be more careful next time.” Grabbing a towel you go upstairs and change your shirt. You grab your briefcase, and you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early a cheerfully greet the staff. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.

Why? Because of how you reacted . You really have no control over 10% of what happens in your life. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 Principle. If someone says something negative about you, do not be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You do not have to let the negative comments affect you. React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, or getting stressed out. How do you react if someone cuts you off in the traffic?

Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? (a friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) , Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Who cares if you arrive 10 seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 Principle and don’t worry about it. You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time to find a new job. The plane is late. It is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger, why stress out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90/10 Principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90/10 Principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this Principle.

The result? You will see it by yourself! Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and headaches. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 Principle. It can change your life!

Enjoy it... It only takes willpower to give ourselves permission to make the experience. Absolutely everything we do, give, say, or even think, it’s like a Boomerang. It will come back to us... If we want to receive, we need to learn to give first... Maybe we will end with our hands empty, but our heart will be filled with love... And those who love life, have that feeling marked in their hearts …

Here's the top ten things that make you say "WHAT DA HELL?!" when visiting BP... Here we go!

Number 10: Why do people come to a members page repeatly with IM's and when you decided to respond, they have nothing to say?

Number 9: Why do some members post up all these demands they want everyone to follow while visiting their page? I thought the reason why you joined is to meet people. Take your drama out on the person who's causing it and not everybody else.

Number 8: Why do guys display money, weed and guns on their front page? This is not the way to meet women, well... real women anyways. To each is own...

Number 7: The word of god, gospel music, and a terrible attitude does not blend very well together. I'm kind of confused about what's going on with that so I won't stress it. It's your page and you can do whatever you want on it.

Number 6: Why take pics in front of a mirror when all cameras come with an auto-timer built right in? You take better photos using that feature trust me!

Number 5: Why does it take so damn long to type words, delete words or sentences when typing in text mode on blogs, personal message, etc? You would think that someone at BP should be on top of it by now.

Number 4: Why do I get notes from people wanting me to go to another site and when you check out their profile, they don't exist or has your page blocked from their page?

Number 3: Why do this little box on the side of my page keeps following me everywhere I go? I don't want to see profiles of 18 year old members. How can you delete that box anyways? LOL

Number 2: Why do you post up blogs knowing darn well that no one can respond to a blog on your page because it's private.

And the Number One reason you'll say "WHAT DA HELL?!" when visiting BP is...

Why do you post up your photos sideways or sometimes up-side down? What in the heck is that about? LOL These are the same people who say they don't have time for games, go figure!

Just read the 'offense' and if you've done it, you owe that fine. Keep going until you've read each 'offense' and added up your total fine. Please post 'My Bail is $........' as your response. You don't have to confess your answers, just the amount of your fine.

I know that many people are coming and going throughout Black Planet in the thousands on a daily basis. When I joined this site I had the option to allow everyone to come to my page and maybe spend some time reading my profile, checking out my blogs 0r make my profile page private but I decided to allow visitors to come inside. I try to be positive in my choices to make friends or posting comments but there are some members here who don't feel the same as I do. You have a few members here who are suffering with trying to cope with life and all they want to do is try to spoil your positive moods and turn them into negative ones. I have experinced these actions from many people who are not my friends here but strangers who have nothing else to do but go from profile to profile and post up their anger towards anyone who might have something positive to say. I'm not the type of person who gets angry about negative comments so posting your opinions about me doesn't bother me one bit. I don't have to block your comments or report them, you cannot move me with your negative comment so if thats what makes you feel great by trying to insult someone who hasn't done anything to you, thats your hang-ups.

Please do not come into my space with your negative mind games, negative comments, nude photos, invites to meet you at another website, or anything else concerning your negative vibes. I'm not here to meet any gay men because i'm not gay so please do not even consider it. I'm not here to meet any young women under the age of 34 as my friends so dont even think about it The only thing a 29 year old girl can do for me is introduce me to her mama and that's about it. I'm not here for any women to hate on just because I don't respond to her messages, I do not owe you a response just because you sent me one. If I answer it then I answer it, if I don't answer it, so be it. I don't want to hear your negative opinions about how you feel about men on this site, if you feel that all men are the same then maybe you should try dating women instead. I don't owe you anything just because i happen to be a man so please don't bring me your anti-male drama.

I'm sorry if I sound a little upset that because lately I have been repeatly hated on just because of my page and my personality. I guess that's what you get when you let people in and try to give them a chance to be positive and now I see that some of them dont know how to be positive because of the drama they keep within. Well chezz43 dont have any drama in his life so I will not let you smear it onto my page. If this blog upsets you then you too have drama in your life and you must release it before it destroys you. Chezz43 cannot and will not help you with these personal problems you're suffering with.

Overall, i've met some very positive people here on Black Planet and they're my friends here. It's the other types of people who seem to ease into my space and try to disrupt my way of thinking and I won't allow it. To those people who are positive and feel the same as I do feel free to comment if you like.
