A victim’s prayer

Dear God when will all of this stop? When will my brother’s charges drop? When will I forget about the past? When will I find peace at last? When will I stop thinking about my friends in that arena? When will I finally get over Katrina? Dear God why is it every time I tell someone they think I’m joking? Why is it that every time I look at someone I associate them with someone in the water floating? Dear God it is me that has fallen! Dear God why it had to be New Orleans? Why did we have to lose our homes? Why did we have to end up alone? Everyday we feel the same pain of the water rising up from the rain, the fear of losing my friends to a gang, and the constant feeling of holding my head of shame. The sound of bullets flying above my bed, and the prayer from my mother, that they won’t hit my head. No one can judge until they saw the same amount of blood, no one can cry until their whole life has been proven a lie. No one can die until they saw through a victim’s eyes. Dear God why is it so hard to let go and let you if pain is what I’m accustom too.
