Derris "Deevine Soundz" Perkins is one of St. Louis' paramount DJs. Born and raised on the north side of St. Louis, MO, to a working mother and a renowned radio personality and disc jockey. A graduate of Northwestern Missouri State University, with a Bachelor degree in Communications, Soundz has paved his way through the music world for fifteen years. He began spinning records in 1992 for college and house parties throughout St. Louis and surrounding cities. Known for his ability to mix all genres of music, Soundz later became St. Louis' premiere skating rink and night club DJ. Skaters of Saints and Skate King rolled with the sounds of Soundz for more than a decade. In 1999, he landed an internship with Clear Channel Communications. After a brief hiatus, Soundz realized his true calling and rejoined the communications arena with Radio One, Inc. His career at Radio One began as a part-time promotion assistant. Within minimal time, he is now the local market producer of the Michael Baisden Show, Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm, and weekend on-air personality on WFUN-FM, Foxy 95.5. In conjunction with his radio duties(programing ,production, and traffic duties) Soundz is also the house DJ for St. Louis' #1 upscale nightclub, The Loft Jazz Club.After building the Loft until April 08, he then moved on the Club Paradise on Monday, Wed, Thur, and Friday. In addition returned to djing at the skating rink for private parties.
