"The POP CULTURECHALLENGE " by Darnell Fenderson Take a moment and
think of 3 actors, music artists, or entertainers whose work can't
stand. You think that their image is bad for society, especially
the youth. Now take a moment and think of every reason why you
don't like them. Okay, not every reason...lets say 5. Okay, now
take a moment and let that marinate. Now estimate how long it took
you to do this little activity. Now here's the big challenge: The
next time you pray, take the amount of time it took you to take
this challenge and pray for those individuals. Not just the next
time but whenever you pray take a little time to pray for the
entertainment industry. If we spent as much time praying for them
as we do complaining who knows what a difference we would see in
the things we see. I'm not saying everything will end up Christ
like and you'll see Tom Cruise in the Passion of the Christ part 2
but I am saying it could possibly change some of the content that's
being aired. Prayer is a powerful weapon anywhere, even Hollywood.
However, if we don't use it, it?s powerless. Praying is like
voting, if you don't do it, you really have no right to complain.
God wants entertainers saved just as much as you and I. And though
you may never get the chance to talk to Eminem or 50 Cent one on
one and win them to Jesus, you can pray that God will send someone
who can. So the next time you turn on the tube and see something or
someone that rubs you the wrong way don't throw the remote at the
TV. Take all of that frustrating energy and pray for that person.
We pray for Uncle John and Billy Bob, and our parents and our
family and friends and ask God to deliver them from their
addictions but do we really take enough time to pray for the
industry and the people in the industry that influence those bad
habits to begin with? There was a time when TV was safe to watch
and maybe if the people of God took this issue to God and prayed
for him to change hearts in the industry then maybe we could go
back to that time. But if we aren't making our requests known then
it will continue to get worst. Remember if we aren't asking for it,
the chances of receiving it are slim to none. LET'S START ASKING!!
All it takes is a moment. If you are up for the challenge write us
a note declaring that when you pray you will add the entertainment
industry to your prayer list.
