How Is This Single Mom Working From Home 7 years Strong?

 Hey BP Family!

I currently live in Edmond, OK. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I've lived in several places over the years. Places like St. Louis, MO; Des Moines, IA; Pittsburgh, PA; and Raleigh, NC.

Growing up, my mother stressed the fact that I would need to go to college so that I could get a good job. I didn't really agree with her because I wanted to travel and own a business so I decided to wait out a year to decide if I was going to the Air Force or to school.

In that year I got pregnant with my son and decided to go to school to get that degree in business so that I could learn what I needed to know to go into business.

I knew that getting a degree didn't necessarily mean I would land that good job my mother talked about and I also knew that I wouldn't be able to work for a company for 40 years and retire with the kind of pension my mother and many others had. Those days have been over!

I am a single mom of 3 and an entrepreneur. I have owned many home based businesses over the past 15 years. In our corporate world I had a career in the accounting field. I've done everything from petty cash, AP, AR, GL, Staff Accounting, Payroll Administration, and Tax Accounting.

And then it went like this... I was laid off in 2002 due to a company bankruptcy and it was devastating! This was also a confirmation in my life that I had known since I could remember that was to be true to myself and live out my dream to own a successful business. I haven't been back to corporate since!

No longer do I deal with the layoffs, rush hour traffic, not getting paid what I am worth, and not having enough time and money to do what I need to for myself and my family!

If you are like me, you realize that there has got to be a better way.

My purpose is to teach and help people remember that we can live out our dreams and accomplish our goals. If we don't then who else will? It won't get done, then what will we say on that day when we stand before Him? We have to get through life and share with others our testimonies because that is what God brought us here to do!!! With the Desire, Passion, Focus, Faith, Belief, and Persistence to see it through, nothing is impossible.
