I'm on this planet, and specifically Black Planet, to be among my people. To be an asset to all I encounter, bringing my whole Afrikan self. I come with love, knowledge, seeking healing, uplifting with love and peace. I resist with all within me those who seek to tear us down:: including those that are coming with negativity under the false guise of "keeping it real". I reject the doctrine of playing our faults and shortcomings on a consent loop, I am aware of how much further we have to go and will not spend precious time calling out where we ain't. What you feed grows, so I come with my platter full of tasty nutrition, growing older and wiser, loving Afrikans in my actions and my words. It leaves no time for ANY one who brings forth tools of destruction. It is a lonely but oh so worthy space to be. Amandla!

Happy Juneteenth BP!
I am the descendant of former captives, from southern Texas. Juneteenth has been a holiday in my family since the news broke. It is wonderful that others are discovering and celebrating, in fact it's awesome. Thanks 'merica for the federal holiday- now can you run me their money? Cause you owe them, those who survived the march to the coast, the middle passage, the lash, the rapes, the daily terror. You, who built a nation off the unpaid labor owe. Just cause you won't pay don't mean you don't owe, and you will owe my descendants if you don't pay me. You cannot pay enough for harm that was inflicted, yet you owe nonetheless. For the descendants of former captives that want to debate reparations, or don't want reparations- cool, I'll take your portion. Thanks for the recognition of our holiday- now run me their money.

Our son (5yo) asked us how we met a few days ago. We told him on BlackPlanet, to which he replied:
“Black planet? How long did you live there? Why did you leave?”
He was dead serious until we explained it was a place on the Internet

🤷🏿♀️I have given up trying to remove and block all these fake profiles on Black Planet, but I won't shut down my page. I wish I knew how to rally real folks to fix it. Knowing that there will always be people with ill intent showing up, how can we turn BlackPlanet into a place where the trolls are out numbered? Turn it into a paying membership? I would be willing to pay for a membership that would screen out fake profiles and scammers. I don't know if that's the answer, I just want to connect with Black folks, have something that's just for us. Am I asking for too much, the impossible?🤦🏿♀️ Sigh, feeling nostalgic today, missing connecting with real people, missing what the Planet was, lamenting what it has become. But I ain't leaving!✊🏿

I certainly have discovered what really matters: connecting over the distance with family, friends, forgiving and seeking forgiveness for things are not that important in the context of today's reality. I treasure the days when I get outside and feel the sun on my skin.
