There was a time in the not too distant past that I was brash, superficial, and impatient...that got me nowhere! After a life filled with chasing the wrong kinds of women for the wrong reasons, I finally realized that if I am ever to be truly happy then it was up to me to make better decisions about who and what I involve myself in. Patience was the first thing I learned, and I have been faithfully awaiting the love of my life to enter my sphere of gravity. You see, I am already in love with her. She is the epitome of my desires, the nurturer of my soul, and the inspiration for my patience; unfortunately, she only comes to me in my dreams. Each night when I lay my head upon my pillow,I am greeted by pleasant thoughts that quickly turn to fantasy as I envision the love of my life and the ways in which we can enhance each other's happiness. Her face has always been a mystery--though I must admit, it is one that I enjoy because her appearance doesn't matter. I look forward to the day she is revealed to me, and can only imagine the delight I will experience from receiving a blessing that transcends the superficial trappings of human sight. That doesn't mean that I don't hope that she is attractive, but more important than that,I hope that she is truly the one for me...No-matter how she comes packaged!

Love & Respect (c)

This is a story about Love and Respect
And how their relationship ended, ruined by Regret
In the beginning, Love had always followed her heart
Which was how she won and maintained Respect from the start

It began so glorious their devotion was so true
For Love only wanted Respect, and he, her too

The beauty of Love was truly awesome to behold
And attracted many suitors, the young and the old
Respect never worried, nor bothered to fret
For he thought that Love wasn?t so easy to get

Then came Lust with his corrupting way
Deceptive and misleading, causing Love to stray
Love briefly lost Respect after he found out
But he eventually returned though she?d lost much of her clout

Love, over time had also conquered shame
Only to lose to Temptation in a none too similar game
But that was only temporary, for Misery came too
And though he affected Love, Respect still remained true

Respect had brothers, Contempt and Disdain
Who tormented him mercilessly for his lack of refrain
Despite their chastisements, Respect continued to cope
Strengthened by his powerful sisters Faith and Hope

Love and Respect had a mutual friend, Pride
Who introduced Anger, Jealousy, and a very ugly Lie
Envy tried her hand at the beleaguered couple too
But Love lost interest and her treasured Respect too

Love became convinced Vanity had all the answers
And so became blinded by her pursuer?s constant advances
When Need came along, he was long overdue
Because without him, Love believed there was nothing she could do


At the height of Love?s stress Vulnerability appeared
Warning her of Loneliness and its frightening companion Fear
In her efforts to avoid the terrible duo?s curse
Love?s next decision only made matters worse

She took up with Flirtation, which seemed harmless at first
But her reputation suffered badly, and became impossible to nurse
Love begged her twin sister, Forgiveness to intercede on her behalf
But she refused because Love would not repent for her past

Love had become infatuated by all the attention
But compared to Respect none of it was worthy of mention
Losing Respect forced Love to realize
That their union was what she should have prized

Sadly, Regret, the last of her suitors
Was destined to become a victorious loser
For in the midst of her anguish, Love, at last, made up her mind
Vowing from that point on to be very hard to find

Thus, the only time Love is enticed to appear
Is when her long lost Respect is rumored to be near
Love will always return upon that condition
Because Respect, alone, has earned her submission

But since she never finds him she always leaves with Regret
For he serves to remind her that she is nothing without Respect
