Can take a week of left over
scraps and make a gourmet meal. Can cuss a man out, make him feel
like %#&@$! then make love to him that same night and make him
feel like a king. Wear a burgundy French roll, 3 inch heels and
asplit up her thigh to work and make it look professional. ONLY A
BLACK WOMAN.... Can wear the hell out of spandex. Can raise a
doctor, a world class athlete and an A+ student in an environment
deemed by society as dysfunctional, broken, underprivileged and
disenfranchised. Can heat a whole house in the winter without help
from the gas company. Can go from the boardroom to the block and
"keep it real" in both places. Can slap the taste out of your
mouth. ONLY A BLACK WOMAN.... Can put a Black man and his non-Black
date on pins and needles just by walking into the room. Can live
below poverty level and yet set fashion trends. Can fight two
struggles everyday and make it look easy. Can make a child happy on
Christmas day even if he didn`t get a damn thing. Can be admired
and fantasized about by men of other races and know that when she
does cross over its done out of sincerity not a political move. Can
be 75 years old and look 45. ONLY A BLACK WOMAN.... Can make other
women want to pay plastic surgeons top $$$ for physical features
she was already born with. ONLY A BLACK WOMAN.... Can be the mother
of civilization........ Did Ya Hear me?
SO ADDRESS ME AS
SUCH I can see right past your intricate masks, Give a
sophisticated answer to any questions you ask, Raise 1 or 10
children through struggle and strife, Run a major corporation and
be a supportive wife. Converse with the "big wigs" or holla atcha
in the hood,Say "absolutely wonderful!" or "Haay it`s all good!"
Put you in your place, without sayin` much, I`m an intellectual
Black Sista, SO ADDRESS ME AS SUCH! Possessing the
strength ofthe strongest foundation. My voicespeaks in volume heard
through out the nation. My hands grasps doubt and turn it into hope
and these hands have cut society`s"limitation rope", Becausethere
is no limit on the strength that I possess, the determination I
have, mycourage, or my prowess. The force of my power can be felt
with one touch, I`m a strong Black Sista, SO ADDRESS ME AS
SUCH! My heart contains love in it`s purest form,
Unconditional,absolute, and everyday reborn. My love can surpass
the most grueling of tests, It supplies assurance where there is
unrest. My love bonds, and shapes, and molds, and holds, It begins
from birth, to "infinity-years-old:. You can feel it without
physical touch, I`m a loving Black Sista, SO ADDRESS ME AS
SUCH! The passion that is swelling, brewing inside, Rises
to my surface, it never hides. Whether it`s seductively unveiled
for my man, It`s intensity is unrestrained and uninhibited. It can
be overwhelming; for some, it`s a bit much, I`m a passionate Black
Sista, SO ADDRESS ME AS SUCH! Intellectual,
strong, loving, and passionate, sophisticated, powerful
affectionate,immaculate, I`m not your hoocie, your %#&@$!, or
your hoe. I`m the center of life, more than you`ll ever know. I`m
your sister, your auntie, your niece, your mother and I stand
beside you, not behind you my brother. I come in different shapes,
shades, and sizes, and no one can deny me when this Sista rises. My
style is captivating, thank you very much, I`m a beautiful Black
Sista, SO ADDRESS ME AS SUCH! UNKNOWN The first
poem is dedicated to my mommy who passed on February 21, 2004. I
love you mook. You may be gone but never forgotten. And
last but not least Do you know the Lord? He`s waiting to hear from
you.
