first of all, if you want to contact me, better do it at my email addres (loriarmstrong@live.com) rather than here. i probably won't see it til long after you've sent it because i don't come here so very much anymore. i'm also on facebook as lori armstrong louisville kentucky. i once read someone's profile that said that it doesn't do any good to put what you are and are not looking for because people will ignore it or pretend to be what you want anyway. it even said it didn't do a lot of good to tell about yourself, because people rarely see you the way you see yourself anyway. i decided there was a lot of truth in that, so i decided i'd just share some of what's important to me or what i like.
well if the top pic right above this didn't clue you in, i'm an obama fan. barack obama is a man who understands what's really important in life, what it takes to get things done, and a man of great character - all my opinion of course. i'm reading his book "the audacity of hope" right now, and it's just reinforcing what i already thought of him. i believe he's the first president in a very long time who actually knows this is a job he was hired to do by the american people and acts accordingly. he's working, not just sitting back enjoying the perks. i am very proud to be an american right now. though i am somewhat embarrassed by how some people are behaving.
michael jackson: wow. this has been hard for me. i believe he was a wonderful person. i don't believe the bs. i love him and i can't believe he's gone. and i don't care much for michael haters.
spirituality: i used to go to agape international spiritual center, pastored by rev dr michael bernard beckwith, when i lived in cali (just moved from there to louisville in april 2008), so that might tell some people right off where my spirituality lies. i believe that we are all interconnected, that god is part of us, that we are timeless beings - no beginning and no end. i believe in the law of attraction. i believe that god is love and that is all there is - no devil, no hell. "hell" is what we create when we are out of alignment with who we really are, and the devil is the ego that drives us to think we're better than someone else. i could go on, but either you're saying "yeah!" right now or you think i'm crazy. i think i've created the line of definition with that alone - lol.. but i will go on to say that i think that how we relate to each other is more important than any bottom line (personally and even in corporate life - those who take jobs from us to overseas to save their bottom line could do with a bit of this philosophy in my opinion), and i think the greatest pursuits a person can have are to be truly working on who they are inside and truly caring for the other human beings with whom they share this existence - not just the ones they call family and friends. love is the way. love is the answer.
music: i love prince! and michael jackson. and george michael, seal, elton john - motown, funk, neo soul. country and hard rock and electronica - yuk. can't stand the stuff.
tv: i like house (the new season opener was great last night!), and roseanne, and seinfeld, frasier, the cosby show, living single, the closer, csi, law and order - lots of stuff, though i don't watch tv much - usually reading or on the computer for leisure. i like to keep up with what's going on in washington too. oprah sometimes. stuff like that. and i hate wwe and all that other wrestling!!!
movies: i love movies!!! i especially like the ones that make you think, or make you get emotionally involved, or anything with will smith in it - lol.. i like some comedies too but not what i call "stupid" comedy. i like movies with dancing or stepping in them. i have a 10-year-old daughter, and i've developed quite a liking for many animated movies. some of them have very good stories!! meet the robinsons for instance - very good movie. i don't like anything with will ferrell in it or mike myers. ew - lol.. and i love a lot of old movies too. arsenic and old lace is one of my favorites. and at christmas my favorites are white christmas and it's a wonderful life.
reading: i love to read! and i find i really get along best with other people who like to read too. i read both fiction and non-fiction. right now i'm reading two books: breaking dawn (final book in the twilight series) and the audicity of hope (one of barack obama's books). that pretty much sums me up - always reading one of each usually. in non-fiction i like things like this (obama) and things on religion (as a subject of study, any religion, i like learning what belief systems others have), spirituality (for my own upliftment), or whatever subject i'm interested in at the time. in fiction, my favorites have always included stephen king, anne rice, now stephanie meyer - all that horror kinda stuff. but also john irving, john grisham, pearl s buck, rumer godden, and others, who are not horror or anything of the kind.
