no. contracts can always be negotiated. and they were. unions can always give when circumstances necessitate, take wisconsin. they were willing to give the state all of what they wished except the right to bargain. greed destroyed unions and the middle class has suffered at a rate that can be seen declining almost simultaneously. unions were what built the middle class and that included minorities. now the rate of unemployment for most minorities has gone up and things have started sliding backwards. what's really pathetic is that outside of the local reps no national democrats came around and stood for the unions recently. now on the campaign trail it's unions this and unions that. they said that in 2008 too. but when push came to shove they were nowhere to be seen. they didn't stand in the streets.
