I rant and rave about everything. But sometimes particularly when you look around at what other people are going through you have to stop and think about how blessed you are. We all have our problems and battles but they pale in comparison to what is going on in China and Myanmar. In China there are thousands of people dead or dying or trapped in their house that has been turned to rubble. No food or water. Dams on the verge of breaking. An online friend stated a different opinion to the Philly police beating than I had. But I had had the same thoughts when I first heard the story... that is that the suspects had killed 3 people....And maybe..just maybe an Ass whooping was in order (in the least) for the crime they committed. This leads me to say this: the police must uphold the law while being professional. They must use force to subdue suspects but excessive force is a violation of human rights that we have in this country.... (continue reading)

When the cyclone hit Myanmar and the news reported the devastation I thought of Katrina and how our own government turned away help. I know that our situation was different...That is the Katrina debacle was caused by incompetence and indifference by our government. In Myanmar it is being caused by a few assh*les who want to make sure they stay in power and don't care if their people die.
