The volcano is due to erupt soon according to the article. The government was given ample amount of time to evacuate the people of Alaska from out of harms way. What is FEMA doing? Do you have family in Alaska? If so, are they safe?

Is medical staffing, EMS,firefighters and the military prepared?

The McKinney-Clemente ticket is expected to be on the ballot in all the Gulf Coast states, except for Texas. But here in Georgia, like Texas, and a
handful of other states which still impose Jim-Crow barriers to the ballot, we must content ourselves with write-in campaigns.

Please do not think though that a write-in vote doesn't count. The Georgia Green Party is certifying our nominees with the Secretary of State to impose a duty on the state to count and report our votes. 46,000 Georgia write-in votes for our slate will ensure that the Georgia Green Party will have a place on the ballot in 2010, at least for state-wide races. And about 130,000 Georgia write-ins for Cynthia McKinney would do our part for delivering the 5% which Ms. McKinney has stated is her goal for this election cycle.

If she takes 5% of the popular vote, the Green Party will be recognized as a 'minor' party in the eyes of Federal Campaign Finance laws, and eligible for some additional public financing in 2012. (A 20% showing creates a major party, with additional publicly financed privileges in the national election scheme). As Cynthia puts it, 5% pulls another seat up to the table of
decision making.

But this is not about what Cynthia McKinney will do, but about what we will do, to pierce the mania where folks project their own hopes onto a candidate, to instead help them see and understand that they do have options beyond those pre-chosen for us by the media.

We're holding weekly Tuesday night conference calls here in Georgia, folks committed to organizing a Georgia write-in campaign, that is. Right now, we're trying 9pm. I'm hopeful we might try earlier hours.

This information came from one of Cynthia McKinney's volunteers here in Georgia. Please spread the word about Cynthia McKinney as she shall be our next President.
