As Single Mothers we face "special" and "unique" challenges that a 2 Parent house hold are not subjected to. These can vary across the board from mouthing back, to body parts, when and how to talk about sex and the list goes on.

What are your top 3 challenges of being a Single Mom? Is it finances? Challenges with co-parenting? Communication with your child/ren?

If you could have the idea relationship with your child/ren, what would it look like,....feel like...sound like?

If your challenges remained the same what would be the the consequences to you..your children?

If you've never pondered these questions before, now is a good time. As our children are exposed to things they themselves cannot begin to decipher nor overstand. Share your answers in the comment and lets see if there is a common thread with a certain challenge.

Happy SunDay!! to all the Single Parents holding it down and making it happen all day every day!

On our show, http://www.blogtalkradio.com/1 singlemother2another, yesterday, Saturday, 6/25/16 at 11am pst, (every Saturday same time), the topic was "When do I Talk About Sex?" I laid out how to have this conversation at all the age group growth stages.

Here is just a few recaps for those who missed it:

*First know that It's never too late to have this conversation.*

A. Age group birth to 2: be "matter of fact" that's it. i.e. This is your toes, nose, %#&@$!, anus, eyes, you get it, right? Please no cute names for some and correct names for other parts.

B. Age group 3-5: While it?s important to answer all of your child's questions honestly just keep it simple, yet truthful: no stork stories,

C. Age group 6-9: At this age you can start teaching them the basics of puberty and what to expect before they get there. Don't wait for them to ask you questions, that may never happen. Look for ways to start the conversation.

D. Age group 9-12: Let them know that all the physical stuff that?s happening to them?acne, wet dreams, breast budding, menstruation, growth spurts, body hair?is normal

E. Age group 13-15; Accept the fact that your teenager is the one who is going to be making the big decisions for their sexuality. ?You no longer have control as much as you might want to. ?What you can do is guide your teenager to learn to take responsibility for their actions and give them the information they need so he/she can make sound decisions.? Because they are not going to tell you they still want support and guidance from you.
