Hello I'm Tamara Westwood owner of Illuminations Soul Therapy. I am a certified Hypnotherapist, Iridologist, Herbalist, Vegan Chef and Author. These diverse fields of expertise combine to make my practice unique in that the healing focus is not limited to the mental & emotional bodies. Illuminations Soul Therapy strives to balance the whole person through appreciation and care of the physical body as well, healing the inner & outer, being. This is my story: One of my favorite past times is to study the interesting correlations between so call new scientific dis-covery and the ancient wisdom of, High Priestesses, and Shaman of so called primitive indigenous cultures of Africa, including Egypt, the western, and eastern civilizations. Asia, North & South America, Aboriginal Australia, & India. I was born in Chicago in the early 1960's. A time of war, riots, protests, and images of starving children, upheaval in the evolutionary process of our nation. The problems of the time seemed to have an easy solution in my Libra child mind. I remember thinking some thing sweet like "Why can't everybody just be nice and share?" I wondered why all the big people around me kept doing the same things over and over, if what they keep doing causes so many problems for themselves and every one else? In my naivete I didn't understand how the human mind responds to stress under the "matrix" conditioning of separation. We are taught to believe "There is not enough of the good stuff to go around, so you better get yours or get got", "It's a dog eat dog world out there" "Every man for himself" This paradigm is behind the unfortunate fact that people can't just "stop" doing what ever it is that gives then a (false) sense of security no matter (who gets hurt) how unhappy they are with the results. As a race we humans are terrified. We act out in unloving ways when we are in fear, the state or perceived state of being disrespected, unprotected, and rejected, all forms of feeling unloved and unlovable. As a child I observed certain disparities that hurt me on a very deep level. Even in my world at school or on the play ground I was motivated to take action on behalf of world peace. I noticed that the kids who were considered "pretty" were lavished with positive attention and praise. Those who were not (perceived) as attractive in appearance, where either ignored or scolded unnecessarily. The latter group tended to become withdrawn or would act out for attention. I decided to do my part and made friends with the children no one liked, many turned out to be my most interesting and thoughtful friends. As I grew older and began to develop interests and explore different fields , my intention was always to effect positive change via the natural human need for beauty, appreciation and acceptance. When we receive these blessings, we tend to respond with peace and love, naturally. I wanted to be an advocate for the underprivileged and ignored. I started with horticulture creating peace by beautify the environment. This would work hand in hand with agriculture. My plan was to find ways to produce enough crops to feed the hungry world. I studied the politics of economics and learned the laws of supply and demand. To my dismay I realized that there is no shortage. The real problem is that an abundance of food is in deed produced, however is not distributed to those in need. The food is left to rot in the name of greed & profit. Disillusioned I turned to interior and fashion design, certainly these choices would directly effect the consciousness of the planet. Pain could be healed by beautifying homes, and designing complimentary clothing that would accentuate the positive and hide any figure flaws, this had fleeting results, people are never satisfied, always changing to keep up with trends. So I moved on to something that was more direct. As a Cosmetologist, and nutrition consultant I looked to the power of esthetic beauty and health. I wondered if this would cure the worlds ills. I imagined, If every one learned to feel good about their weight, skin, nails, and hair then perhaps they'd feel better about themselves... world peace at last! Sharing my knowledge of nutrition and weight management I've helped hundreds of people look great, As hair & make-up artist countless men and women have walked out of the salon or on to the set looking fabulous and feeling charged. However each and every week after the thrill of the new hair cut, eye shadow technique, or smaller dress size had worn off, clients would sit down in my chair and share the same occurring issues, concerning relationships, jobs, health, and money. Like all Bartenders and hair stylists, Through over 20 years of this fulfilling career I became a very intuitive counselor and confidant. However I came to accept the fact that the miracles I was performing were temporal at best. As a teacher I opened a child care center. I make a point to give extra validation and encouragement to all children, but especially to those who are not as popular or who were labeled as "problem". In my eyes all children are beautiful, I love making a difference in their lives by planting seeds of self confidence and empowerment. Even today I continue to share lasting benefits by nurturing young minds at every opportunity, after all it has been said "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the (can really make a difference in the future of the) world." As you may have discerned from my life path I've longed to offer deep & lasting benefits to help heal and ease the challenges of the human condition. I'm happy to say my passion is fulfilled, I get to utilize all of my gifts acquired during life's explorations. Through my Soul Therapy practice I am grateful to be able to help create deep lasting change, beneath the surface, which in turn enriches the outer world way down to the cellular level.
