What People Don't understand

Why is it that when people dont understand things they tend to shut down, ignore you or even try to put you down for your knowledge!!! The city I lived in can some how be sheltered by change i've been in dallas for years cause of it being much larger it was more diverse. I truly think all cultures should learn from one another everyone has someone of mixed race in there family and even friends. Lets turn and learn from them it could really be helpful in life.
