KEISHA MARTIN
Out of the concrete jungle of Kingston 13, Jamaica, emerges the Queen of jam rock soul, singing sensation and reggae diva, Keisha Martin The first lady of R&B reggae soul.
Keisha, born the third of six children, migrated to Brooklyn, New York at the age of nine. She got her start like many others before her, singing in her church choir. With a voice as melodious as hers, it didn't take long for her to start securing first place in talent shows, from high school productions, to Amateur Night at the world famous 'Apollo Theatre' in Harlem.
What makes Keisha unique is her ability to deliver whatever the crowd wants to hear. From R&B, to culturally uplifting, to hardcore Reggae club bangers. Whatever the genre, Keisha fits right in. More than a brick house vocalist and deejay, she is an accomplished songwriter and expert dancer, who have won dancehall competitions in Canada, Cleveland, New York and Jamaica. Having worked with some world renown producers such as, Todd Terry, Robert Livingston [Big Yard], DJ Big Kap, DeeNucka and Self, Keisha has managed to hone her craft, and definitely possess all it takes to make it to the top.
Her demo is a compilation that is sure to satisfy the most discriminating musical appetite. With songs like 'can I get to know you', 'I like', 'thing 4 you', 'sunshine', 'angel', and 'Gone', to name a few, there is definitely something to thrill everyone.
With inspirations and musical role models such as Nina Simone, Patti Labelle, Billy Holiday, Sam Cook and Bob Marley, it's no wonder Keisha writes, sings, and performs with the passion that she does. The spark that has ignited the fire inside the little girl from Kingston 13 is now burning out of control, with a growing fan Base from performing in the tri state area Jamaica, Florida, and through her my space and black planet music pages it's getting hot.
