I have asked the question of whether to show mercy plenty of times when people have tried to harm me. Recently more than ever. Usually my retaliation tends to be more severe than the initial provocation because of an underestimation caused by a gross miscalculation on their part of my restraint and kindness being taken for inability and weakness. So consider whether or not when mercy is the appropriate action and when mercy is not. I know I am and still do.
