Valuable treasures worth far more than gold
Material things could never compare
To the sparkle you gives when in your eyes I stare

I sit and observe every stride in your strut
Although, it was your back they intended to break
You stood your grounds with your eyebrows raised
And when your families were torn apart
You remained faithful in prayer and they consumed neither your pride nor your heart
Amongst the mixtures of cultures still you stand out
Strong and dominant are your genes
Which have remained since the very, beginning
You are the yellow of the sun to the dark black of the night
From the brown sands of the earth
From which all life was birthed
Complexions that vary from brown sugar to cream
Peanut butter baby, if you know what I mean?
Vanilla to almond to chocolate as in candy coated kiss
Maple as in syrup, yes, you are Miss it!
Seductive and gentle, yet inwardly strong
Mild in appearance
However, you carry a wrath as mighty as an ancient sea storms
We are all facets of the same diamond the core being you
That⿿s why it⿿s mainly the Black woman this black man respects
And to whom he⿿ll give his life to protect
