"WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES"

BEFORE YOU FROWN AT THEM

'CAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT THAN YOU

BEFORE YOU TROD ON THEM

WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL OR MORAL SHOES

LET LIFE WEAR YOU DOWN

LET LIFE BEAT ON YOU

LIKE IT HAS ON OTHERS

BEFORE YOU JUDGE

BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE

WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES.

A SISTA'S POEM "ALL WE NEED"

A SINCERE LOVE IS ALL WE DESIRE

A LOVE TIME WON'T CHANGE. TOO REAL TO EXPIRE.

A TOUCH OF COMPASSION IS WHAT WE LONG.

TO LIE IN YOUR ARMS COMFORTING AND STRONG.

A LIMITLESS EAR OF UNDERSTANDING

LISTENING TO OUR EVERY NEED, HURT, AND FEARS

IN A TIME SO DEMANDING.

A LIFETIME OF HONESTY TO SECURE OUR TRUST

TO LEAVE NO DOUBT IN OUR FIDELITY;

THIS IS A MUST.

I love him

I love his lips

his eyes, his hands

his back, his smile

I love him

I love his ways

his craft, his talent

his gift, his style

I love him

I'm moved by his presence

his touch, his glow

his strength, his courage

That Black Man!

I love him.

I've been through water, but didn't drown

I've been through dirt, but didn't get buried

I've been through fire but didn't get burned

Yes,

I've been through

I didn't die

So...

I'm Destined to Make it!

"These Streets are Cold"

Just yesterday I was admired

by many

Envied by some.

I look today and I'm alone

Left to survive these streets.

They are cold.

Who I am inside

Seems not to matter too much now.

the skills I have are useless to me.

I'm scared,

humiliated, frustrated, and scorned.

My heart torn by these streets.

They are cold.

I often wonder; how people end up this way?

I look up, and suddenly

Here I am.

Alone.

Left to survive these streets.

They are cold

I cry

I cry

I cry

Not understanding how one decision

could hurt my destiney.

I vow to myself not to judge the homeless

because yesterday

that was me...

and I know

These streets are cold.

"I "Feel You"

You feel angry, bitter and confused

Neglected, mistreated and misused.

Think no one understands?

I feel you.

Your heart has been broken one time

too many.

problems or hang ups,

your share had plenty.

think no one gives a damn?

I feel you.

You reach out for love and compassion.

Peace of mind is only what you imagine.

Feel disenchanted?

I feel you.

Shattered dreams and broken promises

have torn your heart apart.

In new relationships often times

you are through before you start.

Deep ain't it?

Think I can't comprehend?

I feel you.

I understand.
