I am a poet/ spoken word artist, lyricist and vocalist here on bp to meet fellow artists and sincere people for networking/ friendship. I am a down to earth person that shares what is on my mind without filters (as seen through my writing). My philosophy is 'Truth First' so from the first converation to the last I am going to be me - love it or hate it. I like to surround myself with people who have no ulterior motives (of course that means that I believe that there is such a thing).

I enjoy the simple things in life: good music (esp. reggae from roots rock to dancehall), comedy and conversation. In my spare time I make my own incense, watch sci-fi/ action flicks (if you haven't already, go see AVATAR in 3D or IMAX!) and read suspense thrillers. I may be the coolest chick you'll ever meet, but you won't know until you hit me up *wink*!!!

I need to clarify why I'm here

In this eclectic, electric atmosphere

I came to network with fellow artists

and meet folks in my color spare community

While finding my Mr Right here is possible

It is highly unlikely

The fact that I am not eager

to meet up with you or have sex

doesn't mean that I'm angry or bitter

It means that I'm utilizing my gift of discernment

and don't grant just any Tom or Dick... (continue reading)

Keep Movin (B**chin Out of Love for My Brothers)

You've got to get up

you've got to keep movin'

'cause as long as you're laying down

you're going to stay sleep man

You've gotta get up

You've got to GET UP!

You are expected to be

lazy and uneducated

Don't allow someone else's expectation

to be your current station in life

When you look in the mirror

Don't you see the scar

that wearing a heavy crown

Reflect, Refocus, Rejuvinate

As always, the time before a new years arrival is one of reflection. It is a time for me to simply stop and take stock of where I am and plan to go. What have I accomplished or learned over the last year? What further steps can I take in the coming year to grow as a person and accomplish my goals? 2009 has been a year where I have learned that what I want is not always what I need and that patience is a virtue that I must continue to develop.

My wish for all of my BP... (continue reading)

Satisfied with 'Maybe Not'

I have been single, though dating for over a year now. After being in a 6+ year relationship, I find myself a little out of practice and have made several misteps along the way. I have made the assumption that people mean what they say and say what they mean and have better things to do with their time than to play games. This assumption, of course, has been proven wrong many times over.

In my early twenties, when I pondered whether or not I would find my 'Mr. Right' my answer was a... (continue reading)

Ugly

Being told by black people

that my particular shade of black

is not beautiful

was hard for me

People one shade lighter

than my skin tone

made me feel ugly and alone

Like I belonged underneath a rock

that I could not lift

like my dark brown skin was a curse

not a gift

For far too long

I have despised my race

hated the way my features fit upon my face

hated my wide... (continue reading)
