personal message

(On god..)

At some point in the minds of every religous person who ever sought validation for their beliefs through reason and fact there came a point where reality could no longer provide a valid explanation for their faith.

At this point these persons were faced with

A.)Accepting actuality and admiting humbly to themselves that neither they nor their pastor/minister/preacher/congr egation/family/friends or the text(s) of their faith could provide any logical necessity for their continued devotion and obedience nor could they offer any tangible explanation for the many great universal mysteries of existence.

Or

B.)Rejecting fact and acting in opposition to evidence and even common sense by spiritualy/financialy and physically devoting themselves in varying degrees to the mythological events and figures present in the legends of their respective faiths.

It is at this point that the rational individual turns and faces reality (reluctantly or not) and chooses to take life for what it is and carves their own individual path.

On the other hand this is where members belonging to group B have made the choice to reject and even denounce the world around them in exchange for the fantasy realm promised them by their "faiths" and their gods. This individual (once again to varying degrees) lives his/her life much the same as the accepting man/woman.However in times of distress/joy this person has commited to carrying out the will of an ancient, imaginary, allegorical figure rather than acting upon fact and tangible/empirical evidence.

In other words..group A reads the Lord of The Rings and thinks "that was interesting..beautiful images and profound moral lessons..Im glad i took the time to read it."And then goes on with their lives

Group B reads the same book and thinks "that was interesting..beautiful images and profound moral lessons..I must find the one ring before Sauron and his evil hordes can use it to destory me and everything i love".

Or in other other words..they're insane.

"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive. "
