My reason for being here is to share with you my latest book, `Fresh Knowledge`. There are (4) samples of my work at the end of the page. I hope that you enjoy them.

Basically, it is a book of poetry that comes from deep within & it is mainly about our people & our struggle to understand who & where we are in history & the world.

Mikaylah Simone, author of `My Manufactured English` wrote the following forewords about my work & they are as follows:

What is a poet? Many have used several esoteric theories to define this role. Some define a poet as a historian that has seen and experienced so much in their lives. Others would compare a poet to a photographer capturing moments in the pages of eloquently aged frames of time to encapsulate the experience of a generation. By this definition, Jackie Williams is that poet. I have never known someone to care so much while expressing their overflowing humanity within the limited confines of pages. Jackie carefully crafts his phrases, a voice that is personal yet public...speaking on behalf of others. This anthology is straightforward; Jackie forces his audience to cross emotional bridges and look into the waters of reflection, the waters are never calming and inconceivably deep.

Jackie Williams' first work 'Shadows and Dreams' was a labor of love that was welcomed to the poetry scene by his unique and creative style. Jackie's highly anticipated second work 'Fresh Knowledge' shows a diverse and different side of his literary talent. His poems are souvenirs saved from significant moments as expressed in one of his pieces 'The Handwriting's on the Wall':

The spirits of our forefathers....cry out from the grave
Yearning toward fulfillment
Things being transferred from master to slave
The roadmap of our destiny
Written in horror, blood and fear
Cleansed by the blood of freedom
Seen through the un-clarity of a tear

What pulsates at the center of this anthology? Many poems lie on the page as words often do, other poems demand a voice, between theses book covers is limitless space for contemplation and meditation. Words not written from a privileged position, Jackie's words give a voice to the silence of loved ones (family and community). These poems have not been designed to impress over conscious literary socialists with Edwardian elegance, they are poems that are eruptions of heart, mind and soul. The passion of his work cannot be denied as Jackie's poems force you to think about what lingers at the center of each piece. In essence, this body of highly provocative work is a collaboration of engagement and discourse...celebrating and confrontational. For Jackie, a risk-taker that happens to be a visionary, it isn't important that his poems exist in greatness, but that his poems live.

After reading Jackie Williams' heart felt work of self-expression and worldly reflection, I discovered unexplored territory in the corners of my soul by sharing in his intelligent and experienced poetic eye. In one's lifetime, you can only hope to be blessed to come across profound literature by such an artist; fellow readers, I pass this blessing on to you.

`Love`s First Kiss`

Brown eyes sparkling in the moonlight
Strolling hand in hand
Two hearts......beating in rhythm
Quickening anticipation...emotions like grains of sand
Sifted through those passions
That says that this is right
Expectancy......racing.....pul ses mount
Will it happen tonight?
Sweating palms......and nervousness
Juices start to flow
A brush of her hair......an innocent touch
Magnetizes the moment......oh, so much!!
A light comes on from the inside....the window starts to peek
An awkward moment.....a hit or a miss
Lips touching softly.....for love's first kiss
Years pass.......with much reverence
Once lithe bodies start to show
Fullness.....maturity.....worn by commitment
A man and a woman full grown
By products of their togetherness
Surviving the patter of tiny feet
Living & loving through joys and pains
Years go by...tears come down like rain
Brown eyes sparkle when she sees him....He smiles
He knows the joys..she knows the pain
Hair once dark and wavy now
Turns a silver tint......and loves continues to grow.
Once lovely faces.....now filled with wisdom
Aged...just like fine wine
He remembers what drew him to her
Lord in heaven......she was so fine.
He approached her that night....for a hit or a miss
Neither would trade the world
For what was love's first kiss?
Their lips still meet so softly
Rainy summer nights pass with bliss
The kids are gone
They are all alone
Their lips.......remember......the risk
The light came on......the curtains peeked
Yet love continued...
And it started with love`s first kiss.

'If it's Not an Issue'

If color is not an issue
Why does it create fissures?
Cracks & crevices in the system
That engulf the souls of our youths
With a spin & a twist..we're on the news
Poor & uneducated...misguided as a rule
For spouting attitude & creating fear
Throw the book at them...who'll shed a tear?

If color is not an issue
Why are riches abound under Nubian feet
Where babies are dying....they have nothing to eat
The norm or the rule & world turn it's head
Genocide & ethnic cleansing
No sanctions...nothing said
No one comes to the rescue
Frail structures like the living dead

If color is not an issue
For humanity sakes...the world over
Why aren't darker people fed?
Are we all brothers?
Is one better than the other?
And who are our keepers?
The whole of humanity
Like post mortem sleepers
Can we survive this?
Does the conspiracy run deeper?
What then is the issue?
This I ask of the people

If color is not an issue
No pity...that's the deal
No wealth or moral high ground
Only God can heal
The hatred in humanity
Sensitivity grows duller & duller
it's not a matter of inferiority
It's only an issue of color.

`Perverted Fantasies`

Unfulfilled fantasies...secrets of the heart
Broken promises...a breach of trust
Rambling aimlessly...not knowing where to start
To divulge the contents of a twisted soul
Dreams of the good life and growing old
Searching for answers on the flip side of the heart
Darkness oozes into daylight....as the seasons grow cold

Bottled up passions...tainted with perversion
Springs forth from tenderloins...a physical diversion
A mind filled with lust and overwhelming wet dreams
Longings so twisted....the soul yells out and screams
For the day when morality falls to the ground
And the virtues are given submissively
Without a peep or a sound

Where is the rock? The foundation is shaken
Holding onto the days of old
When desires were acknowledged and you were the taken
Is that hot grease...yet frying your bacon?
Destined for hell...paradise forsakened
The wickedness prevails...of a rebellious mind
Jump starts the process...the soul is intertwined
With perverted fantasies....scourged of the earth
Secrets of the heart.....exposed and given birth

'Rhapsody In Jealousy'

Passions racing from the pit of my being,
Subtle twinges...aching for release,
Passionate jolts without a source or cause
Welling up inside...trampling internal laws.
Seeking redemption for personal inadequacies
To the best of my knowledge...what I feel is jealousy.

Consciously seeking to spy on another
To stay put or prowl...choices...druthers?
Imagined passions in whispers and stares
Stay put, stay put, don't look and don?t dare.
The next move you make could result in a felony
Summing up my world...a rhapsody in jealousy.

Passions racing from the pit of my being
Subtle twinges...aching for release,
Passionate jolts without a source or cause
Welling up inside...trampling internal laws.
Seeking redemption for personal inadequacies
To the best of my knowledge...what I feel is jealousy.

Imagination fuels the fire...secreting enzymes
Anger wells up inside for no apparent reason,
Sensory output, short-circuited, distorting space and time
Low self-esteem...no pride...the jealous season.
The center of being longs for relief
Thoughts and feelings violently entwine.
Caught in a web...soul stolen by a thief
A passion play of envy...loss of the mind,
Images racing...heart beat pacing
Sneaking up the back way...impatiently casing,
Committing what amounts to an internal felony.
A crime against my essence.....It's crazy jealousy!

US May Fall For the old Okey Doke again

Posted

I wrote this letter to the editor of the Monroe County Reporter in Forsyth, GA. It was published in the September 24, 2008 edition. It was in response to Mr. Westmoreland calling the Obama's 'uppity'. Mr. Editor, This is to Mr. Daniel....the word 'uppity' in itself is not a racial slur. It just means having an attitude that one is better than his or her peers, however; 'uppity' once was an adjective that was used to describe a black person who thought that they were as good as a white person... All Tune and Lube Franchise Rip Off

Posted

I am seeking all of the franchisees who have been ripped
off by a franchise out of Baltimore, Maryland call All
Tune and Lube. This predatory franchise has ripped off
several people with dreams of becoming their own bosses
too many times. I am one of those franchisees. I have
visited the site called 'Rip-Off.com' but they
don't have a way for any of us to contact one
another.

I am asking members of Black Planet to help me in my
quest to round up present owners and ex owners of this
franchise so... (continue reading)
