Recommend this profile to your Facebook friends. personal messageLOVE IS IN THE AIR ! .. B U T C A N Y O U F E E L I T ? Hello, My name is Corin Rogers. I am happily married and not on BLACK PLANET looking for love ! If you get an invite from me please know that relationships are not my intentions ! I am just here to see if there is still ENOUGH interest in the film COOlEY HIGH to warrant an event. PLease know that being in a movie so long ago does not make me think I am better than anyone. I am just here having fun and seeing if this film has any current value on a larger scale. That is all. I was featured in the movie Cooley High when I was 14 years old. I find it facinating the the film is still around and quite popular in some parts of the country still. I am starting this page on Black Planet because I would like to talk about the movie and see if there is any interest in a Cooley High reunion. It has been over a decade since I produced The Cooley High reunion. I would like to do it again but needless to say I need alot of support to be able to pull it off again. Last time I used my own money. I flew in the main stars Glenn Turman, and Lawrence Hilton Jacobs. I catered the event and sold tickets on Ticketron. The event was held at the Clique entertainment center. This was some time before the Clique was closed down. I would like this site to also be the beginning if a Cooley High Fan site. People are still interested in the film. There are so many stories I'd like to tell about the film and my experience in making it. It was truly a family experience. And there is so much stuff on the editing floor that people don't know about that didn't make the cut; like the fire scene in a real movie theatre where the audience tosses all of there drinks on pooter. I will be blogging about my thought on the film, and revealing thing you probably don't know, like It was shown in Africa, and how I was recognized at a party by some Africans. This film was truly an experience and continues to be everyday as people continue to recognize me 30 years later. It is surprising to be recognized by teenagers who's parents held them hostage and made them watch Cooley High ! lol ! Is Cooley high a valid piece of American Cinema ? Is it still pertinent to how African Americans think of themselves, or just a piece of unworthy nostalgia... or does it bridge the link to an innocent past that we were fond of; a past our children will never know ? Notice that Cochise was not intentionally killed, That his death was a mistake. He was merely going to be beatin up . Notice the fight at the Quater party. Fists were flying but it was a fair fight and no guns were drawn. And when Dorothy smacked Tyrone he did not hit her back, not because he couldn't ,but there was something in his character that is called self restaint; self control. This movie was really about being friendly ! the benefits of friendliness, and the many kinds of love: the love between preach and his mother, the brotherly love between Preach and Cochise, the romantic love between Preach and Brenda.... and the tolerant love we all have for the vulnerable (pooter ). The movie Cooley High displayed the fears , hopes and dreams that all people have on some level. That is why it resonates so clearly with us. friends (146)favorite pages
