Hi, my name is Mohammad Salim, I'm 55 years old, married to a lady from Tunisia and we're expecting our first child at the end of October 2008, Insha Allah. We live in Ireland, on the east coast, right by the sea and about 100km north of Dublin. I've been Muslim since May 2000. I made the 'shahada' in the main Mosque in Dublin after studying Islam there for six months. My nearest town is Dundalk where the Islamic community rents a house to use as school, prayer hall etc. As a community we're like the United Nations. We have families from every country in Africa, from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan. We're very lucky to have a fantastic Imam who is from Uganda. I couldn't praise him highly enough. We'd be lost without him. I am active in the community, attending meetings and seminars regularly. I sit on the County Louth anti-racism committee for example. I'm extremely happy with the life I lead. It's not very exciting I'll admit but remember that I'm 55 years old. I've done loads of travelling in my life having visited most countries in the world. I Iived in London for most of the 1970s, spent a few years in the Merchant Navy, (oil tankers), so I reckon that I've had enough excitement for a while. I know that I have left it a little late in life to start a family but this is clear proof of the mercy of Allah in that my crazy days are behind me and now I can concentrate on spending quality time with my wife and child(ren).
