there was a time I wasn't worried about tomorrow
I walked boldly in the confidence of my youth (or ignorance)
I didn't fear the implications of my decisions
there was a time I never looked back
I never doubted the most important person I knew - me

but now I fear that I can no longer trust myself.
my passions are no longer freely explored but forgotten for the worries of the world
my way isn't clear my steps are unsure and my days seem long and suffocating
I labor to make decisions or to make them stick

indeed - everything seems harder as well as unimportant all at once.

Am I getting older and wiser? or more scared and unfocused?

If one more ex-girlfriend says. . . "I'm seeing somebody new and he's a lot like you" or "he reminds me of you"

Seriously-- I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult (after all we BROKE UP!) So now that you're dating some one "like me" don't you know how that story is going to END? That's like going to blockbuster and renting House Party 4 over & over again even though you know it's a horrible movie.

Seriously-- I'm starting to think I was "like" the guy before me. What kind of sick woman are you?! Oh my god, I was a replacement for a replacement. Does the cycle ever end with you?

Seriously- Why would you even want some one like me? I would be more comfortable if you said you were dating some one BETTER than me, if such a thing is even possible.

Seriously- Men never date a woman like the last woman. If anything we get progressively worse partners. What does that say about us?

Anyway if one more "ex" tells me that crap I'm going to ask for some SEX because it's only fair that I get some sex LIKE your new man (who is really like me anyway)
