Born in musically diverse San Francisco, Codany Holiday was destined to follow in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. At the young age of 4, he watched unknowingly musical greatness unfold before his impressionable eyes. His lineage, composed of percussionists, vocalists, funk, and Latin sound performers that demonstrated the possibilities of captivating the live audience. So the stage has never been a foreign place for Codany. He has continued to find ways to display his budding talents.
Early in his career, Codany Holiday had the great opportunity to work on the musical, with Lenny Williams, which challenged his endurance, and love for connecting with the audience. From there, Codany Holiday developed into a professional stage performer that brought him into a productive live music career.
Studying his peers and the greats, encouraged a well rounded strength of talents which led him through on journey of musical greatness. It's the R&B old school, the true pioneers, who are Codany Holiday's influences. His sounds come from studying solo artists like Jackie Wilson to Donnie Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder; to groups like The Stylistics and Earth Wind & Fire. Just listening to Codany Holiday's lyrics and flow, he's destine to touch your soul.
His mature vocal skills brought him to the forefront of the Bay Area R&B scene, sharing the stage and recording studio with Foster and McElroy (EnVogue), Goapele,Morris Day & The Time, ,Howard Hewitt , Martin Luther and the late
J. Spencer. As a vocalist extraordinaire, Codany Holiday has also shown his versatility by bringing his abilities into the studio with Hip Hop artists Zion I, Too Short, Lyric's Born and Kafani, bridging his soulful sounds to the hard beats of the streets.
Sending his fans sensual messages, laced with straight game, and a realness that is undeniable is what makes Codany Holiday not only an extraordinary singer, but a brilliant songwriter as well. Recently, Codany has taken on the enormous task of creating his first solo album, The Truth with dynamic producer Amp Live (Zion I). Kafani loves brinksmanship so much that his album includes a ballad about squashing competition. Called "Hatin' on Me," it pairs a smooth, groove-driven beat the kind that would normally be reserved for memorializing a fallen comrade or serenading a hot girl with a gorgeous R&B hook by C. Holiday, over which Kafani raps....The song culminates with a spoken "breakdown," in which Kafani replaces the come-ons of old-school soul artists with a sermon ..... C. Holiday helps shore up the sentimentality with an American Idol-style cadenza. .... "Hatin' on Me" is the album's real love song.
