The Artist

From Haiti, to Boston, to ATL comes one of the hottest MC's to hit the scene in years.

JahQues, first surfaced as the co-member of the Boston Hip Hop Duo, Original Black Kings. Along with the groups co-founder Kwashe, the two MC's blazed the Boston underground scene, with what they called the OBK Sound. After the groups brief rise and fall from near stardom with several record labels, JahQues later surged on the Atlanta Spoken Word and Hip Hop scene as host of the Black Lion Cafe's Open Mic Night. With JahQues at the helm, the show quickly gained popularity as one of the city's premier hot spots for MCs and poets. He began to feature at numerous venues around Atlanta with his fiery brand of Hip Hop and Spoken Word Lyrics and quickly gained a name for himself as an MC, poet and promoter.

Now on his first solo run, he takes listeners along on his new journey to redefine Hip Hop as we know it. Constantly pushing the limit of his music, JahQues creates a sound so unique that it craves to be heard.

The Production

Most of the production on the StraightJacket is done by JahQues, who prefers to use unique instrumentation on his tracks to move listeners and take them back and fourth, over and beyond with constantly shifting moods and energy. Sometimes the tracks are soulful, rare and vintage, and other tracks are banging like Hip Hop on retilin.
The other half of the JahQues catalog were produced by his select crew of producers who can be considered some of the best musician in Metro Atlanta and Boston; Kwashe, Ransky, KingzBread, Lake Studios, Omega Raw and Jerzmatic.
