I am Kent Heyward, Saxophonist and bandleader of a most wonderful musical group called "Living On Dreams". Living On Dreams is based in Southern Oregon and has played music for several events, festivals & wineries in the Rogue Valley and beyond. Our range of music covers smooth to contemporary jazz, and lots in between. The last few years have made it hard to grasp the concept of universal abundance…. harder on some than others; but it’s in trying times that music is most powerful. Dubbed “The Dream Team”, there is certainly no shortage on inspiration with this group. We seek to expand our horizons and yours by providing an unforgettable experience. That's what we do; our guests know that they attended and are a part of a truly amazing adventure. We do it right.
The Living On Dreams Band plays Eclectic/Funk/Acid/ Smooth Contemporary Jazz; featuring Kent Heyward on Vocals Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Larry Cavalier on Vocals and Keyboards, Richard Meyer on Vocals, Bass and Electric Violin, Michael Fitch on Drums. Musical and vocal styling’s range from Miles Davis and Cole Porter to Weather Report. Living On Dreams is about giving and affirming the footprints of happiness in hearts boldly living to the beat of their dreams.

About the performers:
Kent Heyward-Saxophones, Percussion and Vocals
Kent is an independent recording artist, performer, arranger, singer, bandleader, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist. His musical style might be defined as a combination of intelligent lyricism, technical ability and creative vision. Drawing influences from jazz, rock, blues, funk, Afro-Cuban and classical music, he has created a sound that is both unique and widely appealing. While exploring broader musical concepts, he became actively involved in the SF Bay Area “West Coast World Beat/Afro-Beat Movement”. This influenced much of his writing and inspired the fusing of Afro/Latin rhythms with jazz and rock into his compositions. In the 70s & 80s he performed and recorded with US based international artists, Rod Deal and the I-Deals (heard on “Manifest Destiny” Police State/Step One Studio Productions-Independent Artists Recordings 1986 and Taj Mahal on “Humpty Dumpty” Family Folk Festival - Music For Little People label in 1990. In the earlier years, when Fela Kuti, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Oliver Lake and Anthony Braxton were heard more on the airwaves; Heyward’s sound flexed towards more “Advant Garde Afro centric styling’s” as heard on recordings by Mandinka, Next Alliance, Mapenzi, Main Squeeze and Zulu Spear (Welcome To The USA - Liberty Record division of Capital-EMI Records 1992 (This music can be found at the following link:) http://www.musicstack.com/listings.cgi?find=zulu_spear&t=welcome_to_the_usa&media=All
Since moving from San Francisco to the Rogue Valley in 1989, Kent has been involved in any number of freelance musical situations including Irene Ferrera’s Southern Oregon Concert Tour in the early 90s. Today Kent continues to be an effervescent improviser who combines a compelling technical approach to jazz with endless soul.

Several years ago, he was with the famed and prolific Martin Denny Orchestra in Hawaii. He has done work with most of the better known bands in the region, doing both piano and vocal work. He can be heard with the group “Latin Jazz Quartet”, which has played practically every Sunday afternoon at the Standing Stone Brewery in Ashland, Oregon for the past 10 years.
Michael Fitch-Drums
Drummer, recording artist, & poly-rhythmic percussionist, Michael Fitch has performed in thousands of musical situations ranging from Reggae, Jazz to coliseum rock concerts. Drumming for over 30 years, his professional career ranges from gigging in R&B, blues, rock, Top 40, country, reggae, jazz, Latin, and electronica bands. Today Michael Fitch is one of the most musically versatile drummers in the region.
Richard Meyer-Bass, Vocals and Violin
Richard is musically versatile and a true professional having performed with the Hagar Twins, Patsy Cline, Heart and Soul, Victor Wooton, and Curtis Delgato. He has also opened for notable artists like jazz pianist Tom Grant and country great Charlie Daniels. He discovered his love for music playing violin when he was only nine years old. By the age of twelve he had taken up his new instrument, the bass. Since receiving degrees in music and elementary education from Eastern Oregon University, Mr. Meyer has been influencing the music scene; teaching elementary students as well as instructing collegiate level courses. He was a co-founder of "Jazz at the Lake" in eastern Oregon.
