about the artist

Creating music that rings in the heart of souls has been a breeze for the Grammy songwriter, Reggie Calloway. His prolific talent as a top music producer, hit writer, musician and artist has attracted some of the biggest names in the music industry. One of Calloway's original compositions entitled, "I'll Be Good For You", was featured on N'Sync's multi-platinum CD, "No Strings Attached", proving his ability to break age barriers by working with current artist and legends.

Best known as the founder and leader of one of the most popular Techno-funk bands, "Midnight Star", Calloway lead the group to international success, writing, producing and arranging a string of top mega #1 hits which include, " Operator", "No Parking On The Dance Floor" and "Freak-a-zoid". Not to forget the #2 Pop anthem, " I Wanna Be Rich", performed with brother, Vincent, as the duo Calloway. This song is still being used today as a motivational tool for corporations, businesses and by financial wizards like Suze Orman and Donald Trump.

The Ohio native captured the respect of the music industry insiders for consistently writing a string of Grammy-nominated #1 hits for Teddy Pendergrass, Natalie Cole and LeVert, just to name a few, not to mention the multi-platinum and Gold Albums he has produced. In 1987 he wrote "Love Overboard" for Gladys Knight and The Pips, which won a prestigious Grammy, elevating him to a new status in the music industry as a rising talent. His songs have been featured in films including "Deep Cover", "Wood", "How To Be A Player" and "The Pickup Artist". Some of Calloway's television credits: "The Simpson's", "Ellen Degeneres", "Soul Food", "Beverly Hills 90210" and " The Oprah Winfrey Show".

From Solar Records to writing signature songs for Midnight Star, Calloway remains on the frontline in developing unique lyrics and ear catching melodies. His most recent addition to his endless list of creative works is his debut solo CD, "Bring Back The Love" which features an impressive collage of love songs.

It is no surprise that the music pioneer received a Grammy nomination for R&B Songwriter of the Year for the hit song "Casanova" in 1987. Twenty years later Calloway is proving he is a modern day Casanova. He dazzles us with the magic of his music and gives us the opportunity to use the gift of our ears.

In Memory of Michael Jackson

First and foremost the Calloway family would like to send our love, prayers and deepest condolences to Katherine Jackson, Joe Jackson and the entire Jackson family including all the brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and the loving children of our music brother, Michael Jackson.

Michael, we would like to say, thank you.

Thank you for dreaming of a world full of color without boundaries.
Thank you for seeking to defy gravity by showing us a place outside our own limitations and space.
Thank you for pushing our comfort level and helping us to except things beyond our own understanding.
Thank you for investing in mankind and showing us things we otherwise may never have seen.
Thank you for enduring your own sorrows to help make it easier for us to endure ours.
Thank you for opening doors and tearing down barriers.
Thank you Michael for showing us a broader stage of life where we can entertain higher thoughts and ideals.
Thank you, Michael.

We love you always,

Reggie Calloway and Family

Bring Back The Love

It marks a special time in any singer/songwriter's life when you get to produce music just for the love of it. Where what you say is just as important, if not more, than how you say it. To try to create songs that are timeless and not confined by any particular genre' or fade. To tell stories and weave fantasies which reflect real life and love experiences that can become lessons for others to build upon. I wanted to create a project where every song could stand on it's own yet fit into a cohesive wave of love and passion from beginning to end. I am thankful I was given the opportunity and talented people around me to create the music I have always longed for. With renewed passion and joy for this timeless art form of story telling, I am proud and honored to present, BRING BACK THE LOVE. To make an honest effort to bring back the good music, the good times and that undying desire to create while striving to be whom we are in a world that often times tries to confine us. I say, "let's get back to love, for the sake of love".

Let Me Introduce Myself

I was sitting down to write this note when I was reminded of an email I had received from a nine years old boy who wanted to know if he was related to me. His last name is the same as mine.

My name is Reggie Calloway. I am a Singer/Songwriter/ Producer and Record Label owner. You may remember me as founder of Midnight Star and The Calloway Brothers. Or you may remember some of our songs like "I Wanna Be Rich", "No Parking On The Dance Floor", "Freak-a-zoid", "Wet My Whistle", "Slow Jam" and the songs we wrote and produced for others like "Casanova", "Joy", "Love Overboard", "Meeting in the Ladies Room" and more.

I was born in Cheyenne, WY. My Mother was there with my Father who was in the US Air Force at the time. I have since been back to the base to perform for the service men and women as part of an Air Force tour with my group Midnight Star. It was one of the great stepping-stones in my career. The base hospital is now an administration building. Sometime before my first birthday my Mother and I and my older brother, Greg took a thirteen- hour train ride back to Louisville, KY where the largest part of my family on both sides lived. My Father followed a few months later after his tour of duty ended. We had a cute little house and dog. One of the happiest days of my childhood was when my brother came home from a short stay in the hospital. I hid behind the couch and leaped out when he entered. One of the saddest days was when a judge asked my brother and I who we wanted to live with, our Mother or our Father. Our parents were getting a divorce and we were about to have a limited stay at a foster home. As much as that hurt, I am eternally grateful to the family that cared and protected us for that short time.

The next greatest day was when my Mother came to the home to pick us up and we were reunited with our baby brother, Vincent. We soon moved into a wonderful apartment my Mother secured in the Southwick Homes. Those concrete floors seemed to shine like silver. That first night with the mattress on the floor and my two brothers and I cozy in the same bed and our Mother close by in the next room was as you can imagine a magical moment. Talking about "Bring Back The Love", we were in heaven. So safe, so secure, so loved…

Reggie Calloway Is Bringin' Back The Love

IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE – PLAY ON & ON & ON! Reggie Calloway is Bringin’ Back the Love Los Angeles, Calif. –April 21, 2009– Legendary singer/songwriter/producer, life-liver and hard-lover Reggie Calloway is reaching ALLLL the way back to drum up an oh-so familiar groove and vibe that is as now as it is then… and then some! With the release of his national solo debut, “Bring Back The Love,” Calloway reinstates his musical genius as one of Pop and R&B’s most gifted and original voices. The five-time Grammy-nominated founder of such heavy hitters as the Midnight Star group (“No Parking On The Dance Floor” and “Freak-A-Zoid”) and The Calloway Brothers (“I Wanna Be Rich”), Reggie Calloway has always displayed a unique eye for talent and an even more discerning ear. As writer and producer of the Grammy-nominated classics “Casanova” for Levert, “Joy” for Teddy Pendergrass, “Jump Start My Heart” for Natalie Cole, and the Grammy-winning “Love Overboard” for Gladys Knight and the Pips, Calloway has consistently demonstrated more than a capacity to create, as well as an ability to inspire. Calloway, in partner with Spiral Galaxy Entertainment (distributed by Bungalo/Universal Music Group), is now ecstatic to release BRING BACK THE LOVE (available Now) as part of a musical renaissance, not only in his own career, but in popular music in its entirety. This staggeringly personal CD touches on critical themes of love and life, with a sensuality, sensitivity and insightfulness, that is difficult to deny. These tracks feel as familiar as family and friends, but as stirring and electrifying as fantasy. These are, in short, songs that stay with you. Beginning April 3, as Calloway makes his way across America on his sprawling fifty city tour starting than where else but Cleveland’s legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he will grace intimate stages promoting his soulful and personal feel, touching on old hits and new tunes with a discourse all his own - an ideal setting for a music man who has made his name by writing memorable songs and romantic, catchy ballads that burn into your heart and pierce the soul. Available for any media events along the way, this is one true music legend with stories to tell and a brilliant history to back it up!
