about the artist

Through the years, Gospel music has gone through several changes. Stemming from the a cappella style of Gospel's Golden age, to the very large and sometime overly produced material of today's Gospel sound. Fortunately, there are still a few artists who believe in getting the message across and not just the music. Such is the case with the W.D. Gospel Singers of Sacramento. These gentlemen have the ability to take the traditional approach in creating their material, and mix it with a soulful, but spiritual groove. Together this combination is what the WD's call "Gospel Soul." The W.D. Gospel Singers were organized in 1981by Washington brothers (Willie, Lonzie, and Clem), and the Dostie brothers (Arthur and Vernell). As time went on, some changes took place. The Dostie brothers left the group, and the WD's added vocalist Charles Ward and 16year old guitarist-vocalist Marcel Smith. Today, the group consists of; Willie Washington, Charles Ward, Marcel Smith, Marcus Davis, Eugene Lomax, Anthony Brown C.L. Fredricks and Louis Thompson. The W.D.'s have opened for or toured with The Gospel Keynotes, Pilgrim Jubilees, Five Blind Boys of MS., Five Blind Boys of Ala., Soul Stirrers, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Highway QC's, Shirley Caesar, Taj Mahal, Bobby Rush, Dr. John, Carlos Santana, John Lee Hooker, Little Milton, Al Green, Lou Rawls and many others. Their soul stirring live performances in and around California have earned them a loyal following. Since 1993, the WD's have enjoyed performing at other (non-religious) venues, the Reno Hilton Reno, NV. Heritage Festival Sacramento, CA., Palms Davis CA., and the prestigious San Francisco Blues Festival, S.F., CA. just to name a few. In 1994, Have Mercy Records debuted the WD's first Compact Disc ("Old Time Religion") that received excellent reviews and regular rotational spots on various gospel and R&B radio stations throughout the country. In 1996, the WD's made their first major tour beginning with the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival in Davenport, Iowa. Chicago, IL., Indianapolis, IND., Kansas City, MO., St. Louis, MO., Denver, CO., Las Vegas, NV. Los Angeles. In 1997-8 WD's spent time on the road, and working with other Have Mercy Recording artists with various projects (e.g. "Penance" by Arbess William). In 2001, the W.D.'s completed the Have Mercy Records release, "Workin' the Road". The promotional disc is in high demand from both religious and secular disc jockeys. This recording promises to be one of there best recordings. In 2003-05, the WD's performed at the Monterey Blues Festival with other noted performers, Clarence Fountain, and the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Temptations, Lou Rawls, and the Rev. Al Green. In 2006 the WD's signed VESPER RECORDS. New CD "My Everything" release in 2007

Donald Brown

A Sculptor's Passion

Sculpting Email: artistadmin@gmail.com
Website: http://www.donaldbrown.tv

He has been dubbed 'The Rennaissance Man' for over a quarter of a century by his native countrymen and admirers in England.

However, since the first of his many visits and guest appearances at red carpet events in the U.S., Donald Brown has and continues to take America by storm with his amazing limited edition works of art that are true Twenty-First Century masterpieces.

By the age of 14, Donald drew national television and media attention for his sculptures. However, his first university degree application was rejected on the grounds that there was no one at the university capable of teaching him anything new where his technique and ability was concerned.

His second application was successful as he opted to study the history of art the following year and Brown later graduated with a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art Sculpture in 1988 from Wolverhampton University in England.
What makes Donald so unique is that he is self taught and even from the tender age of ten he chose to ignore those who discouraged him from making, what they viewed as, an unwise career choice. He however, pursued his dream of becoming a sculptor. Now the international demand for his works have excelled even his expectations.

1) Dr. Maya Angelou "Donald Brown is impressive. His approach to material and his respect for material combine to make his art quite wonderful."

2) Congressman John "Everytme I see your sculptures I am very impressed. Lewis I've got my eye on the Genius sculpture, it's a great masterpiece."

3) Smokey Robinson "Your work is incredible."

4) Lerone Bennett "The Bennetts will always be indebted to you for your vision and touch."

5) Terrie Williams "Art work that is soul stirring and mind provoking."

6) John Amos "I regard Donald Brown as a true Rennaissance Man. With his talents and literally in every area of
the art world, Donald Brown is destined to become recognized on a global basis."

Recipients of his works, courtesy of The Ted Turner Trumpet Awards (98 & 99) include General Colin Powell, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, Coach Eddie Robinson, Jackie Joyner Kersee, John 'Buck' O'Neil, Smokey Robinson, Jessye Norman, Deloris Jordan (mother of Michael Jordan), Barbara Sinatra, Bryant Gumbel, Kweisi Mfume and Debbie Allen.

Establishments such as Morehouse College, The Nigerian Embassy in Washington D.C., The NAACP and the ANC in South Africa own a Donald Brown.

Many owners expressed the profound effect that his works and the symbolisms behind his sculptures continue to have on them.

Donald Brown has and continues to take the art of sculpture to a whole new level and is without doubt one of (if not) the hottest rising sculptor on the planet

NAIL IN THE FENCE

there was a once a little boy who had a bad temper. his father gave him a bad of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.the first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the back of the fence.over the next few week , as he learned to control his anger , the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down.
He discovered that it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nail into the fence . finally , the day came when the boy did not lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail that was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone .The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence . He said you have done well my son , but look at the holes in the fence. the fence will never be the same again . When you say things in anger , they leave scars just like these ones . You can put a knife in a man and draw it out . It won't matter how many times you say i am sorry , the wound is still there, but remember that , a verbal wound is as bad as a physical one .
Friends are every rare jewels . they make you smile and encourage you to succeed . They lend an ear , they share words of praise and they always want to open their heart to us . Remember always to say i am sorry . please forgive me '' Whenever some hurts you too
