Yung Prof started out as Yung Profyt doin mixtape songs since the end of his sophomore year in high school. He went by Big Stan back then and didn't get much love from his peers, which at times made him frustrated. But he used that frustration and transferred that energy into his rhymes causing him to come up with slick metaphors and complex rhymes like he never did before. He released a couple mixtapes his junior year in high school fighting for the respect he knew he deserved, but it didn't come until after high school. He started to create a buzz and has been doin so since 2006, which is the year he graduated. After an issue with a fellow rapper with a similiar name, Prof made the decision to sit down with him and resolve the issue before it got out of hand. The two came to an agreement and out of respect Prof decided to shorten his name because he was the less experienced artist. After starting up the label Supreme Grindin' Entertainment he brought a few of his fellow rappers on board, including a couple that disrespected him in high school but begged to jump aboard when they saw that Prof was making moves. after two years and not much effort put in by the rest of the label, Prof removed every member from SGE except for T. Lynn. He decided to trek alone for a while trying to figure out his next move. He released five mixtapes (The First Impression; Crack Muzik 1-3; Ohio Takeover) total and one compilation mixtape and decided to release an album (I Reign Supreme). He recorded many songs that he released as singles("Ballin'" f/ Majic Juan; "Still The Same"; I'm Good) but he finally rested on two lead singles "Is You Mad" and "I'm That" both produced by Tracy of Hustle Hand Ent. In February of 2009 he recieved a nomination for Best New Artist and Best MySpace Artist at the 419 Underground Music Awards. Although he is achieving what a lot of other local artists aren't, Prof himself will tell you that he hasn't done enough.
