The new CD/mp3 album from GMoney "Rush Hour" will be released July 2nd on CD Baby.
-
Hello Black Planet family. It's been quite a while since I've been in touch, however it's been a long winter and a long 5 months. With all of the extreme winter we had in the Northeast this past winter, I was in my studio busy composing and recording new material for a new CD/mp3 album. The time has arrived, and my new album, "Rush Hour", will be released on CD Baby on July 2nd, just in time for the 4th of July holiday. This is my 1st new album in a year and a half, and my 1st ever summer release. Previews of the new tracks are now on my GMoney Black Planet artist page, including the title track "Rush Hour". Please feel free to stop by and take a listen to "Rush Hour", the new upcoming CD/mp3 album from GMoney.
Peace and Love everybody.

GMoney comes out with his 3rd CD and his first in 2 years "Rush Hour" due out May of 2011
-

Hello to all of my Black Planet Music "fam", friends and fans. As I had in previous announcements mentioned that a new CD would be comming out in spring of 2011, well it is happening. Currently in the studio on a 4-5 week recording/pre-production cycle, I'm recording the last of the material for my upcomming CD/album titled "Rush Hour". This will be my 3rd CD/album (following my debut CD release in 2008 "Just Kickin It" and my 2nd mp3 album in 2009 "Back On The Grind") and my 1st CD/album in over 2 years. This new CD/album will have a R&B/jazz-funk, "Brian Culberston" feel to it. The CD/mp3 album will have bewteen 12-14 tracks and will be distributed through CD Baby and will be avaiable on CD Baby, iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon mp3 and I'm looking into possibly having it avaiable through Walmart. Preview of the new tracks will be avaiable by early-mid March (something to shed off the winter blues, espically for those of us on the East Coast as we've been HAMMERED with some funky weather this winter ). The anticipated release date is the week of the Memmorial Day weekened this comming May.
In addition, i'm also in rehersal studios...FINALLY putting together the "GMoney Project" band, which is anticipated to also debut this year. I'm currently looking for trumpet and Alto sax musicians, and a keyboardist/piano player and I'm still auditioning drummers, so if you live in the New York City/New Jersey Metro area, and you may be intrested in auditioning for my upcomming band, feel free to hit me up here at BP or if your'e on Facebook, drop me a not of intrest and/or friend me there. I'm on Facebook under "Greg GMoney Cuffee" and make sure you mention your'e from Black Planet.
Some other news of interest: I'm currently in talks with a bassist/drummer/producer based in Rome, Italy on the possibility of performing in Rome, Italy during the summer of 2011. Nothing has been "written in stone" as of yet, but talks are continuing. Once I have more definitive details on this I will be sure to share with my BP "family"
This 3rd CD/album release is a big one for me, as it holds alot of promise of taking the "GMoney" brand to a wider audience, and to the "next level" in the music game. I'm also during this time putting demo CD's together to start shopping to some record labels to see about securing a recording/artist development deal. Over the past 2 albums I've developed quite a following not only in the US, but internationally as well, and to me, it's time to take the GMoney sound to the next level. Some other projects for this year include entering some well know music contests to further promote my jazz-funk-R&B sound.
In closing I want to thank all of my BP family/friends/fans for your continuing support of me and my music. I really, really appreciate it.
Till my next announcment, Peace and Love everybody, and "keep the groove alive"
Sincerly,
Greg "GMoney" Cuffee

The masters for "Back On The Grind" are now done
-
Hello to all of my fans and friends. Well it's almost time....for the next album release. The masters for my upcomming album release "Back On The Grind" were finished today (Nov 9th). The release date is still set for early December 2009 (actual release date to follow). The rest of the process now invilves all of the "legal matters" (ie; copyright and publication registration), and photos for the CD artwork, and cover. Everything is comming together smoothly, although with all I've had to deal with in the past year with family issues, it's still mind-boggling to me that I'm even completing my goal of producing and releasing a 2nd CD before the close of 2009. One ironic note...today, November 9th 2009 is the day the masters were completed (both CD masters and mp3 masters), it is also 1 year ago today that my sister, Janine passed (November 9, 2008) abd as such not only is there a track on the album "So Hard To Say Goodby" which is dedicated to my late sister, but in fact the entire album is dedicated to her memory, and my sister Janine was my biggest fan, so it's only fitting that I dedicate this album to her memory. I think right now she is smiling down on me. The new album will initinally be released and distributed as an mp3 download from CD Baby, iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon and other online music retailers, with the actual physical CD to follow in early 2010. Next week, the week of November 16th is when the new tracks for the album will finally be previewed here on BP as well as my MySpace Music page and my Facebook page, so be sure to check back then. Some of the tracks have been previously on my page here in their demo form, now they will be reposted in the album version as well as never-heard-before tracks.
Again I want to thank you all for your support and love of my musical ventures.

NEW TRACKS HAVE BEEN UPLOADED FOR THE UPCOMMING CD " BACK ON THE GRIND"
-
Greetings to all my friends and fans. GMoney IS "back on the grind". It has been a very tough year, in regards with the tragedy that struck my family November of last year. However I've pulled through, and getting myself back on track. To commerate this, I've uploaded some of my new compositions, the first ones since Oct on 2008. These 2 new tracks titled "Back On The Grind" and "Get Ya Groove On" will be featured on my upcomming CD to be titled "Back On The Grind" and is scheduled for a release during the summer of 2009. The CD is the follow-up to last years very popular and successful debut CD, "Just Kickin It", and features more of those funky, jazzy tracks that you all love so well. The new CD will also features 2 tracks with vocal and lyrical compositions. The recording and production sessions for this new CD is a testimony to dedication and preserverance as writing new material during the past year was at times just downright impossible as I was at dealing with my sisters illness and subsequent passing last November. The music was what kept me sane. In the comming weeks you will hear a track (to be on the CD) titled "So Hard To Say Goodby" which will be dedicated to my late sister. So sit back, check out the new tracks, and enjoy. Details on the upcomming CD release will be forthcomming in the comming weeks, and as always thank you all for your support, for my joy is to bring you all this wonderful music.

HELLO TO ALL MY FANS, I'VE BEEN AWAY FOR A BIT, HOWEVER I'M BACK. !!!
-
Hello to all my fans, and to my new fans I say "welcome". I have been away "from the action" for a bit. As many of you may have read, my baby sister lost her battle with cancer in early November of 08', since that time I have been in seclusion, taking my time to reflect on my sisters life. Along with her passing, I also became co-guardian of her 2 children ages 9 and 13, so not having any kids of myself, that has been a transition, but a transition that I welcome !!!, and my role has changed from their "uncle" to their "uncle/father", but it's ALL GOOD. During this period, I have been doing some writing, as music has helped keep me from "losing it". As such, there is now new material that is currently in production for release later this year. The new CD titled "Just A Jazzy Funky House Thang", features more funky grooves, more head bobbing, and booty shaking tracks, plus 2 new surprises. The music will be released as both mp3 digital downloads, and a physical CD. More details on the new CD's release will be forthcomming. In the following weeks, you will see some updating to this site, as process I call "the re-up", and during this time the music for the new CD will also be uploaded as well. I want to thank all for your prayers, warm comments and wonderful support during this differcult time for myself and my family. To that I want to say "God Bless" you all. Please check back in the next few weeks as I rennovate this page and upload new music. God Bless all.

Happy Holidays to all my fans at Black Planet Music and new music preview
-
I'd like to take a moment to wish all of my fans here at Black Planet a very happy and blessed holiday season. In light of the current world finincial crisis, while many of us may not have the funds as we may have had in past holiday seasons, it is important for us to get back to what the real meaning of Christmas is anyway, fellowshipping with family and friends. As many of you know, this for me personally is a tough holiday season, as I receintly lost my sister to cancer, and my family is dealing with some of the fallout of the current ecnomic crisis. Nevertheless, I try on a daily basis to keep a postitive mind and outlook, and to impart a positive vibe to others.
I have uploaded a new song to my Black Planet artist profile titled "Just a Jazzy Funky House Thang". This track will be featured on the upcomming CD titled "Put It On Blast" which will be released in early 2009. I hope that you all enjoy the track, and that it finds a place in your holiday celebration.
Happy Holidays,
God Bless,

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Fans from GMoney
-
To all of my fans, I want to wish you all and your families a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. As I start the Thanksgiving weekend, I'm very blessed to have my family and my niece and nephew who came up from Maryland to spend the holidays with me. Now on to the business of GMoney. This is the official announcement regarding news of the new CD. The new CD is officially titled " Put It On Blast". The release date will be in 2009, sometime bewteen March and May of 2009 (more details to follow). I attended a listening party last night of the new tracks, and the opinion of all in attendance is that "Put It On Blast" is my best work to date in all aspects, composition, bass and keyboard playing and arrangement and production. In the spirit of the holidays I have uploaded one of the new tracks to be featured on the CD titled "Groove Towne". This track featues my first ever bass solo which is the second verse, however let me warn you, the bass solo, sound like nothing you have ever heard before. It was effected by using some new effects which was actually an "expirement" than in this case came out right. (for you bass players fans of mine, basically it's the bass line being played through an overdriven tube GUITAR amp effect !!). Anyway it has a real lively groove, some have called a "Miami like" groove. So I have uploaded the track ""Groove Towne" and I hope you all like it. Again Happy Thanksgiving to all my fans and their families.
God Bless,
GMoney

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS
-
I wanted to take a moment to thank all who sent me your heartfelt prayers and well-wishes during my sisters recient battle with cancer, I do apreciate all of the outpouring of love and prayers. Sadly however, my sister did lose her battle with cancer on Monday November 9th, and God took her home on that day. As I deal with this, I also have to deal with the ugliness that sometimes comes out of one's passing, in this case it's the in-fighting amognst family members over who will have custody of my sisters 2 children (the kids fathers were not involved in the kids life), as the kids want one thing, but as I'm single and have no kids, the cries are ringing out from some of my family, "that I couldn't be a good dad, since I have no "experience", bad enough that my sister has passed and she stated during one of her days "Gregory you have to take care of the kids" (she unfourtunally did not make out a will), but now I have to deal with the family in-fighting, and some people want to make me out to be the "bad guy". All of this comes on the heels as I start production on my new CD release "Put it On Blast" scheduled for release in early 09'. I was to post some new tracks this week, but for right now fans, this will have to wait as I morn the loss of my sister, and get untangled from all of this crazy family in-fighting. Rignt now my fans, I need God, rest, and time as I'm barely holding it together right now. I'll be back again with you all in a few weeks, however right now I NEED TIME TO HEAL, GMoney is hurting at the moment. Any and all prayers and condolences are and would be apreciated. I'll be back with you all in a bit, but again right now I need time.
God Bless all,
GMoney

A Thank You
-
I wanted to take a moment to first of all say "Thank You" to all of you who sent me your prayers and support as I deal with my sister life-and-death issue she is facing. All I can say for the moment on that issue, is "things are still very rough" and I certainly appreciate all of you continued prayers and support. As I head out for MD, so see my sister, I wanted to release a new track finished just a couple of days ago, titled "Miracle From Above". This track is to be featured on my upcomming CD release. The track was inspired by my faith and hope for a miracle for my sister. I hope you enjoy the track, and again many thanks again for all of your prayers and support.

Latest news from GMoney (part 2)
-
As such I didn't schedule any gigs this past summer as I figured that I'd be on tour with my own group, and promoting the new CD. However as you can see, I got screwed, as the band never got underway, and since I did not book any gigs fotr the summer, I got screwed in double time. Needless to say, all have been fired, and from here on out, there will not be ANYBODY in my family circle involved with my music career. Form here on out, until things get overwhelming for me, I will be self managed, and for the other support people needed, I will hire professional people. As far as my band is concerned, the band will still happen, however there will be no family members involved, and I will look for the best talent, no matter how old and no matter of racial background. as long as the players can play the kind of music I produce, and they are committed to the project, then THOSE are the type of people who will be in the band. My focus as it was when I started this endevor back in 2003 was to work towards getting the nod for a Grammy, and also to introduce the jazz influence to a younger and more diverse audience. Judging from the overwhelming response, that I have received, I think I'm on the right track, I feel that I just need to get out of New York City, and into a local where my music REALLY has more of a commercial market, unfourtunally that market is NOT here in New York City. But nevertheless, I keep moving forward with my music.
Now to answer some questions from fans.
Alot of you have asked me about a "2nd" CD. I'm happy to announce that yes I'm working on another CD, my 2nd CD. I dont have a release date as of yet, and at present time I have about half of the tracks done. Due to some of the medical issues I've been dealing with in regards to my family, this has brough about some delays in the production of the CD, but neverthless there is a 2nd CD underway, and in light of my sisters situtation, and with the reality that she doesn't have a long time here with us, it has now become a priority to get this CD done and released. I'm looking at the possibility of donating some of the procedes of the new CD to the American Cancer Society. In the next couple of months there will be more updates on the progress of the new CD, and the title and release date.
Some of you have asked me about releasing single mp3 tracks. This I'm happy to say is a project currently in the works. I have to check on my current contract with CD Baby before I do this, as currently CD Baby.com also distributes mp3 tracks of my current CD. However there are other avenues out there of distributing mp3 tracks, and in some cases they may be avaiable for sale either directly from my BP page and/or my MySpace page, but again this is some legal issues I have to clear first before I start this venture.
And some of you have asked me about the "GMoney Project" band, when and where will we be playing. Well as I mentioned in the part 1 of this bullentin, currently due to all of the missteps that happened previously with this band, in essence I'm starting all over again with recruting band members. For those of you who have never attempted to put a band together, it's a daunting task. Besides finding talented musicians, I have to make sure personalities click, and I have toi also ensure that the desire, and drive to succeed are also present, as I plan to take this music all the way to the top. As such I have to be surronded by like minded individuals.
Well again I want to say to all my new fans "welcome aboard", and I also want to take this opportunity to say "thank you all for your contunued support" Until the next bullentin, GMoney says to all "peace and love".

Latest News from GMoney Part 1
-
Greetings to all of my fans.
As I write this announcement, I ask all of my fans to please pray for my sister and my family. As I returned home last Tuesday (Sept 16th) from a wonderful 3 week gig in London, UK, I learned the devistating news that my sister was diagnoised with stage 4 cervical cancer. The tumor is unoperatable, and she doesnt have a long time to live. As if this wasn't enough, she has 2 young children ages 13 and 10, and while I dont have any children, in time my role will change from "uncle Greg" to "daddy Greg". So again I ask all of you to pray for my family and myself.
This announcement is to bring all of you to date on what's happening in my world of music, and to finally answer some questions that have been asked of me.
To start I want to appologize for not having previous updates, and in addition to welcome my new fans and thank all of you for your support and love.
Well to start, life since the 'Just Kickin It' CD release in March earlier this year has been bittersweet. The CD had a good sales run from March up until July. August was a slow month, but Sept the CD sales have picked up again. Due to the issues of our current sluggish economy, I dropped the price of the CD on CD Baby.com from 12.97 to 10.97 (web link: www.cdbaby.com/gmoneysounds). Also during this time, I gained alot of new fans, European exposure, and with each new fan, or e-mail I get from people who have heard my music, it gives me that drive to move on, as each and every one of you have expressed how much you like my music. Technically it's classified as "Urban Jazz" (which compared to "Smooth Jazz", "Urban Jazz" has a much more defined hip/hop and R&B rhythms) however depending on who you talk to it could be classified as either "Urban Jazz" or "Smooth Jazz". When I'm composing new material, my concern is simply this: "does the track SOUND like GMoney ?", that is my concern. The "bitter" part of the past 6 months ?, well for starters, a month berfore I launched my CD, the only smooth jazz radio station we had here in NYC "CD 101.9" changed their format from smooth jazz to a rock format. Rock is the main stay of music here in New York City, and in front ofhip hop and R&B. as far as Jazz is concerned here in New York City, the jazz that is popular here is the contemporary or traditional jazz. There are "pockets" of smooth jazz fans here in New York City, but from the commercial aspect, smooth jazz is basically "dead". A such there is no way for me to get major radio airplay here in New York. The music has been on the play list for New York's City College radio station, but that is a radio station that broadcasts primarly in the Harlem area, but on the mainstream, not commercial market for me here in New York City. Keep in mind that is not to say that my music is not popular, quite the contrary, I have a HUGE fan base in the South, Texas, and the West Coast (the home of smooth jazz), Asia and Europe, so to me New York City is missing out. As such there are future plans in which I will be relocating out of New York City. In addition to this, I made the decision that so many new recording artist do, and that is to hire family and close friends for my "behind the scene" team, (ie; managers, handelers, etc.) What a mistake that was, everybody from my drummer and horn player (both cousins) to my now defunt manager( a "big" brother) basically SCREWED me...all out of hatting. My drummer showed up for 1 rehersal (the other rehersals we had to play to tracks), my trombone player, secrwed me TWICE this past summer on gigs, which never happened, and even my so called mamager screwed me out of $1,000.00. So all in all it has been a rough 6 month period since the CD was released. (see more part 2)

A new musicians network
-
I launched yet another music networking site (on cannot ever have enough networking sites) This time the site is www.ursession.com/gmoneynyc (that will take you to the direct page, and if you can please vote for the songs I've posted) Here's the deal: the site was the brainchild of world famous bassist, Shavo Odadjian (he plays for the rock group called System of a Down) anyway the site is a online label/musician network. The way it works is as an artist you post your profile (very similar to MySpace Music). As ppls visit your page they have a chance to vote on your music. Once ANY artist reaches something like 50,000 audition votes (my music is posted for "audition" as compared to "community" (which is just for listening but not voting) the ursession management and Shavo himself start to monitor that particular artist, and then the artist goes up before the ursession.com community, and the community votes on if that artist gets a record deal or not. So as an up-and-comming artist, and with the potential of my music, I have to be on any and all musician networks that could get me a chance to the top. Anyway stop by, check it out, vote for me pleezzeee, and let me know what you think. Also if anyone is intrested a press kit, my press kit is online at www.sonicbids.com/gmoney2
TNT...(till next time)
Greg
