Just learn a lesson from me, never rush(ha, easy said right?)
It's really time to stop playing and get it right. Our children are depending on us to be responsible adults for the sake of their futures. Some of you parents don't even have a clue about what goes on at your children's school at the same time your mad at President Obama about not creating change in your life. Do you know what's happening after school. Do you ask questions? Do you attend the meetings. Do you investigate their friends? It's not a game, it's part of the responsibility of the parent. Who is teaching your child?

If you are not doing all you can to effectively parent your child, then you are asking for trouble and you are selling your child short. You child is depending on you for guidance, discipline and lessons from your wisdom to armor him or her for the ups, downs, and realities of life. Wait a minute, you ask..... what am I talking about....

So what are WE doing about it? We are starting a non profit using hip hop to deliver the CORRECT message the youth needs in order to travel a path that is more likely to lead to prosperity and happiness. A message that counters the negativity. We will need to hear from YOU, the same mainstream artists that the youth already idolize and follow. The youth without adequate parental guidance in the home follow your every word and though we won't ask for a change in the message we will ask for positive talk from you that encourages the youth and influences them with positive talk. You alone have the power to change the future of a lot of young lives. In fact your ARE changing the future of a lot of young lives we just want you to change it in the other direction. How about speaking of education, discipline, delayed gratification, staying focused, even abstinence since we know how many girls became single mothers who are struggle because of getting pregnant at a young age by guys who don't care about them or the baby. The only thing we can talk about is money, drugs, cars, sex, really? No matter what the song is about still in every verse money, cars, sex and Imma thug Imma gansta. It's sad how we intentionally speak in a positive way about destructive things. It's like the youth are intentionally being targeted to be destroyed by our own people who then go and talk about the white man, racism and life being unfair and the older adults in key positions to speak to leaders in the communities cry about reparations and oppression instead of talking to the parents about preparation. Talk about President Obama not doing enough for our impoverished people but why aren't you saying something about the effects of what our children hear all day every day especially in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, East Texas, and Georgia on the radio which basically brainwashes them to be the next generations of impoverished people. Why? Because too many single mothers, with little or no education, some on drugs many with records from selling drugs, no planning for the future, and poorly prepared the the realities of life. From being influence by the tv, radio and in some part due to the lack of direction and influence in the home. So for all of those who truly care about the youth, if you are a parent I hope you will be a better parent (there is always room) IF you are a artist I hope you will be more balanced your fans will still love you if you are positive, they will eat whatever you feed them if all of you do it. Government if you seriously care about the kids and black people about some providing training for our at risk and their parents and when people get locked up forced them into training to help them see life in another way plus provide them with skills to become self sufficient and stop letting them just sit around in jail. If you are a school, why aren't you teaching entrepreneurship and life skills since we know a lot of the parents aren't doing it and then provide training for the parents in the same thing plus effective parenting skills. Costly? Not really you'll save eventually with less incidents, better kids, and more involved parents but you have to market it to them to get them to participate first show them the benefits of getting the training and information. Pastors why doesn't every church teach parenting skills and life skills? These are simple ways to uplift our community stop waiting on someone else to care and do more than we are willing to do ourselves.

I know, easier said than done....and....what. Life is not easy, fair, or predictable if it were it would be boring. However certain actions are likely to cause certain outcomes and the more intentional we are at being proactive to work toward our goals the less we will have to complain about in our lives. We can't keep blaming our problems on slavery or the man or whatever else when all it takes sometimes is for us to make better choices. How can we teach our youth to be responsible and disciplined in reaching for their goals if we model the opposite. Neither president Obama or the government can make changes from DC that will render the results we would like to have in our lives. So if you really want change stop crying about other people are not doing for you and start doing something in your own life to bring about the change you want and deserve. Life is what you make it.
