personal message

Greetings Queens and Kings of the African Diaspora. I am Zo the Media Mystro. I am a blessed man. I have peace with my God, my Mother is proud of me as she looks down from Heaven and I get to do what I love for a living.

I am a Motion Picture Specialist. I feel in this day and age to call myself just a Film Maker would be limiting. If it involves telling a story through any medium be it the "Net", Television or the Silver Screen, I`m on it.

My passion has always been Motion Pictures since I was a child. The Creator has rewarded my labor with 21 regional "Emmy`s" and numerous other awards.

I was the first "Brutha" to direct a season of MTV`s "The Real World." I shot the eleventh season in Chicago.

I was one of two directors on "Making The Band, II with P Diddy" for MTV. I directed through the 2004 season. I was the director for "The Ultimate Hustler with Damon Dash" for BET. I've also directed "Keyshia Cole; The Way It Is," "I Married a Baller," "The Christies: Committed," and many more.

I directed portions of "Oprah and Gayle's Big Adventure."
as well as "Monica: Still Standing" and "My Black is Beautiful!"
A documentary I Produced and Directed on Dr. Dorothy Height and "The Black Family Reunion" was chosen to air on Showtime as part of it`s "Black Filmmakers Showcase" in Feburary of 2002

Two other Doc's of mine have been shown on BETJ as well as the short film: "Rendevous"
I also was the supervising producer and director on the Bravo TV Show "The Real Housewives of Atlanta."

The pictures below are from my days as Creative Director at BET. That was a blessing as it exposed me to the best talent out there.

Again I am blessed. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

"Move confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. For in doing so you will find a joy not known in common hours."

Thoreau.

Your dreams are waiting for you to rescue them. "Carpe` Diem!"

The Mystro.

"America's Next Producer"

Posted

My experience being on that show only reinforced what I have known all along: The televison and film industry still actively goes out of it's way to keep qualified African Americans on the margins.

The industry wants to continue to promote the stereotypical image of "The Scary Black Man" to justify it's elective homogeny. The way I was edited on that show was a travesty. I confronted the cowardly producer (Rich Bye) about this but he was so resolute in his delusion that he... (continue reading)
