Thanks for stopping by to visit with me.
Read, enjoy, and feel free to respond, just remember: Be positive, be honest, and be literate, ok? okay!
I have met some cool folks in my time here, and I have had some frustrating experiences as well. Someone I met a while ago inspired me, so I am updating my page, with this warning: Be careful what you ask the universe for, you may get what you want! I had noticed this before when I made "FREEDOM" my goal. I started my own business and after a few years, I realized I was technically, "FREE" but FREEDOM can also be taken to be a lack of attachment to anything whatsoever. I had to get specific and refine what I asked the Universe for ("EMPOWERED, SELF GENERATIVE, RELATED, AT PEACE" etc.) so that`s the exercise I have been up to for a while.
When I am not working, I am inventing and coming up with songs, poems, film treatments, etc. (all business aside, I have to let out the artist inside, you know?!) as well as goofing off here and on a million other social networking sites. I also love my favorite sports (golf/pool/bowling - mental: you compete against yourself as well as others) or some of the nice spots in Brooklyn and Manhattan (gotta have a social life in NYC.)
Let me drop some of my interests here:
Some Movies to check out include: Boomerang, Soul Food, Love Jones, Friday, Love And Basketball, The Best Man, Malcolm X, Uptown Saturday Night, Let`s Do It Again, Shaft, Superfly, To Sir With Love, Trading Places, Swingers, Breakfast At Tiffanys, True Romance, Rashomon, Forbidden Planet, Under The Cherry Moon, One False Move, The Usual Suspects, There Will Be Blood, Aliens, Goodfellas, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Airplane!, Do The Right Thing, The Untouchables, Casablanca, To Have And Have Not, Star Wars (the entire Saga), Clueless, The Sixth Sense, Dune, Mother Juggs and Speed, Apocalypse Now, Othello, 2001, The Matrix (so many people think that`s where I got my screenname from!), Apocalpyse Now, Earl Cornbread and Me, Cooley High, Scarface, Dune (whew let me take a breath!)
TV Shows I like (in no particular order): Like It Is, Friends, Family Guy, Simpsons, Girlfriends, McLaughlin Group, Meet The Press, Charlie Rose Show, Letterman, Conan O Brien, Saturday Night Live (finally funny again), I like to see our people on TV but not every show with black on tv has been a good tv show; I think the best show that BET EVER had was Desmond`s (the jamaican barber)!
Music: like Mos Def says, we ARE hip hop, we ARE rock n roll. I breathe in old school hip hop, lots of the newer artists, as well as rock n roll, some jazz and acid jazz, old school soul, new school soul (dig the screen name!!), spoken-word, and many other influences. In my short time on this Planet Earth, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of my music idols, the result of which is I will NEVER take another human as an idol again. I think it`s important for us to remember that no graven image can take the place of God: not an artist, not money itself, nothing. Shakespeare rocked it well, when Polonius said "To thine own self be true". DMX rocked it well too, saying "Do You , Cause I`m A Do Me / Truly, Whooo Eeeee"!
Now much of this Western Capitalism Consumerist society and political economy is based on "want this, need this, align yourself and your *lifestyle* with this, and buy this" but you`ve got to define yourselfBY yourself and FOR yourself! Like Jessica Care Moore said, we can`t be nervous, just have the nerve to be us. That said, right now, some of the cats I have been feeling lately (in no particular order) include:
Chrisette Michelle, Tweet, Kelly Rowland (first album), Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, Mos Def, The Artist Still Known As Prince, (old) Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem (believe it or not!) Meshell Ndegeocello, Coldplay, Johnny Cash, Simon & Garfunkel, Joshua Redman.
Favorite mens` fragrances: original Dolce & Gabbana is still the bomb, Boucheron Jaipur, Issey Miyake, & Cartier Declaration hold me down.

Don`t forget to VOTE in your local elections. Sometimes (to paraphrase KRS-ONE) it`s like voting for The Mumps or the Measles, but we have to wade thru the b.s. and make a choice. Get involved in your local elections (think globally, act locally)
PEACE.
