Tim hardaway has been getting a horrible backlash from a comment made on a radio talk show concerning homosexuals and pro sports. Is he being treated fairly or did he just have the ballz to say something most players feel but wouldnt say???

you know, when you put your opinions out there, especially when it comes to a controversial subject like this, expect some backlash

i can respect the fact, that basically, he told the media exactly how he felt. it doesn't matter how racist, biggoted, or ignorant someone's response is: i can always respect the fact that a man spoke his mind, without trying to sugarcoat or be politically correct just to please the masses

what i didn't appreciate, is how he re-canted his statements later on that night and apologized. now, if he said " i apologize if i offended you, but that's how i feel and i'm sticking to it, " my respect would have grown more for him. but, sadly, he did not. he apologized and said he didn't mean it...nigga, yes you did! otherwise, you wouldn't have said it. it wasn't like he said it out of anger...this was a freaking interview. he was rational and level-headed at the time. that i do not respect. if that was the case, you should have thought about what you were going to say before you answered the question, or just said "no comment." this effort to save face at the end of the day, really turned me off.

say what you mean, and mean what you say: and stick by it. yea, people's ideas and perceptions do change: but they don't change in the span of a morning interview at 9 AM to an evening interview at 7 PM. come on now, we're not STUPID.

I'm with Thomas on this one. Why do these celebs keep coming out and saying this stuff and then apologizing? They k good and well that they meant every word of it and they have a right to their opinion regardless of whether I like it or not. I think that a lot of them need to learn to just keep their mouths closed personally but once they say it they should stand by it if it is the way they really feel.

I agree Gin they are a force to be reckoned with..There are a lot of Gays in power that haven't come out of the closet so you don't know who you are dealing with...I think he should have stood by his statement...He is retired so it's not like they can force him into rehab or threaten his job..He k it wasn't politically correct when he said it!..As long as Gay people aren't trying to recruit his azz he should have just left it alone.

@moka

however, he IS trying to be a media personality. he's done with with different shows on ESPN, etc. so he's trying to be some kind of analyst or broadcaster (or he's tried.) however, he can throw all that out the window right now. that's why he should've stayed by his comments, because from this point on, i'll bet he'll be permanently blacklisted

he better do like Isaiah Washington and go to rehab for this! LMAO

But real talk ricky smiley(comedian) has a morning show here and opened it up for callers, alot of mixed views but mostly agreeing with tim, then ricky made the point of all these so-called christians that dont have a problem with homo's directing the choir or paying their tithes!!! I dont know im not a homophobe, to each his own as long as you dont come at me side ways we cool, my problem is with these "DL" cowards who are afraid to really be themselves and subject our sisters to HIV, thats who we all should be mad at!!!

I posted the same topic, AYE PLUS you beat me to it lol, Hardaway apologized not because of remorse, only because David Stern laid his hands on him financially lol, if hardaway would have said he doesnt agree with the lifestyle and left the word hate out, he would have gotten away with it, Its funny how they targeted a black man on this topic, but not a white guy, ameichi isnt the first to come out it was a white guy who came out, but that story is in someones vault.

Its like now the black man must keep his mouth shut, and not express his views on anything. This is a crazy country.
