Proposal to ban welfare recipients from playing lottery

"We're giving them welfare to help them live, and yet by selling them a ticket, we're taking away their money that is there to provide them the barest of necessities,"

Umm how the hell they gonna enforce that without violating folks civil rights?

...besides the lottery gives people hope, and some of those folks win sometimes, and i bet if they are already on welfare, they REALLY need the money!

Seems the Republican keep getting dumber and dumber along with their supporters.Republicans are suppose to be deficit hawks but keep coming up with legislation that adds to the states budget instead of reducing it.Their anti-abortion measures would require state and local governments to add personnel to administer and enforce the laws,same for drug testing welfare recipients(We all saw how successful that was in Florida).Now these idiots are trying to follow welfare recipient and those who file bankruptcy around to make sure they arent playing the lottery.I am trying real hard to figure out how you prove they are using their AFDC money to play lottery.Either way this measure would require more personnel then any of them.

What a quandary; damn if you do, damn if you don't. It may provide some semblance of hope for some and an opportunity to come off of the public dole and provide for themselves by playing the lottery.

After all, ?You can?t win if you don?t play.?

i propose that all politicians must be stripped of free health care free travel free welfare
as i see they do nothing for the country or the people thus the money they get is welfare.
imagine that a people trying to do something to get out of poverty
without stealing like politicians do
are been threatened with sever poverty
by criminals

where oh where are the gun sling-gers to start a revolution in protection of the constitution they so often site as reason for all types of slog ownership lol

well i thought about it and it's kinda like stupid when you think about it.
1st off, the proceeds go right back to the state, so the state ain't losing no monies
2nd as a matter of fact, that gambling brings in way more than it pays out, so still no lost on the state's part
3rdly, leave them folks alone... i suppose that when they win it supplements that scapping lil income and it's a h3ck of a lot better than selling they azz or slanging or robbing or breaking and entering.

i propose that the state needs to step off on that stupid *ish.

looks like the state ain't got enough to do just being a bunch of busy bodies

plus, a portion of those funds are supposed to be for the schools and the students learning materials... what is the problem????

if the state is looking for something to do... try cutting administration's portion... without increasing the odds of winning. dang

I just had a Discussion Just About This Same Subject. THIS IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF "KICKING SOMEBODY WHEN THEY ARE DOWN!!" My Facebook Friends are So Glad That Kentucy, Missouri and Another State Require Welfare Receiptants to take Drug Testing! NOW THIS!! What Next?? You have to give Your First Born Child or Grandchild to The State for Sacrifice!! FAMILY!!
