Japanese Americans Receive $20K each for Racial Prejudice
The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, marked another anniversary: 25 years ago the Japanese-American community celebrated a landmark victory in its own struggle for civil rights and more than 100,000 people of Japanese descent who were incarcerated in internment camps during World War II were compensated. The legislation offered a formal apology and paid out $20,000 in compensation to each surviving victim.
