Peace to my BP fam'! I am a native of Syracuse, NY residing in Lincoln, Ne. Life is full with challenges, changes and opportunities. I am very blessed to be alive, healthy and actively involved serving community. I share in the ownership of the HEALING CIRCLE RECOVERY COMMUNITY, INC and serve as the Assistant Director of Goal Mind Youth Services (Lincoln, Ne). We are a locally and black owned non-profit/non-partisan organization specializing in intensive drug management/mental health support services for women/children, along with group mentoring services for youth. Goal Mind Youth Services is an Arts/Humanities Academy serving youth grades 7-8 (school based) and 9-12 (community based). The Goal Mind Youth Academy was the result of our work with students in the public schools as club/team sponsors, along with the creation of our Hip Hop 101 summer enrichment/after school programs. We recognize the influence that hip hop/popular culture has regarding the positive development of young people and the global 'economy'. By utilizing the interest in the music, art and business, students are exposed to the reality of what drives this powerful machine. Also, how to create academic and career opportunities by understanding the many options linked to the entertainment industry. Youth will be exposed to concepts in starting their own business, obtaining membership in local government, community development and more! We recognize the need for a unique and diverse range of community health and education services for young people. I will share more regarding our growth, research and upcoming opportunities to network and to do the great work we are called upon to do here in Nebraska and abroad! We believe in working together to build strong communities. We enjoy having fun, laughter and growing in health as a collective seeking to heal and pass the healing along.
