A "1-click" is not a 'note' nor a substitution for 'hi, how're you?"
Friend requests will not be acknowledged if I've never spoken to you or if they come without a note

Fun Facts About Me<--linkie linkie

This page last Updated: 2/22/2010

Want to talk to me? Try me on Yahoo

Here are the basics:

  • I'm a mom (2 girls
  • I'm a gov't worker b e
  • I'm a business owner
  • I'm FABULOUS in my own right
  • I'm a comicbook lover (even though my reading has slacked off. tsk tsk tsk)
  • I'm a lover of Wolf Blitzer (CNN) interviews aaaahhoooooooooooo!!!!
  • I'm a reader of most all genres of literature
  • I love to play scrabble and if you dare try me out, I can point you in the direction of a webbased scrabble game. C'mon...you know you want to...
  • If ya ever feel like just hollering out at me, you can see if I'm online (yahoo: lilblakqn)
  • There's so much more to me than what's on this list, really.

Here's me, animated & all lol

Let's see....
I've lived a pretty full life, even at 32 by now. Although my travel experience is woefully limited, I have been to NYC (isn't that where they say it's 'crackin'?) Anyway, that's it for that...

I am super ticklish, and love to be tickled, even though i tend to fight back I can't help it. You know what it is, that nerve reaction to be tickled just to the brink or whatever. lol Anyway, i'm ALWAYS down for tickling.

I love to read, All sorts of books, from Zora Neale Hurston to...Laurell K Hamilton. so, all sorts of books, one that impart knowledge and ones that are just plain old frugal fiction. I love love love to play games, board games for sure, but since I do a lot of work online and on the computer, I play mostly pc games, or games online, like dominoes and stuff like that.
I've written a bit of poetry in my time, and so I'll share 2 of them with you here, I hope if you've read this far that you enjoy them.

Directed Thoughts of a Newly Freed Woman

Just Go,
Did you think I would let you
come back in to my life
and wreck it
end it
drop it
I will not discuss this
with you
I can't be myself,
you make me feel bad
about how you've caused me pain
in my heart,
in my head
thoughts of you leaving
and I wish you would
Just Go.

The Edge

Standing on the edge of forever,
forgeting what went before,
I've never stopped to think-what lies ahead?
I dont know when I'll die,
I don't if I'll wake up - tomorrow
I wonder if my life will continue-in vain
What affect am I having?
Is someone smiling today...
because of something I said to them
when they were having an ugly day?
Does the space I take up
Alter someone's path,
or am I merely here
taking up space
as an oxygen thief?
I'll admit to being no great mind
I'll admit to being a little selfish
but I hope that someone will catch me
if I step off of this cliff
while I'm standing here,
on the edge of forever.

Letter to the Revolutionary Spirit From the Displaced African Soul

Your cry fell on deaf ears
You were defeated at every turn

Oppressed
Depressed
Rejected
Ridiculed &
Scorned/br>
You cried for your oppressors to let you have your way
Defector!
Traitor!
(anything for your freedoms, right?)

War / Thievery / Bloodshed
(anything for your freedoms, right?)

Traits that you picked up
Traits that you honed

Your freedom cost me mine
Rapists / Murders / Whoremongers
(bondage equals suffering)

Bound and chained
Beaten down
Covered in welts
Covered in blood
Covered in filth

Eyes as open to the truth, as wounds to the elements

Tears mixed with blood mixed with sweat caked in drudgery
combed over by sadness coated in filth wrapped up in hope.

Hope? Yes, hope.
But still my soul laments,

Your freedom cost me mine.

The main reason I'm here is because I LOVE to meet people and talk to new people. It's just the best way I can think of to begin to network. Not only that, but meeting and speaking with new people often leads to one learning more about one's self. I'm generally very interested in learning more about myself - aren't you? I hope learning more about myself will lead me to being a better individual. *shrug* it's my hope anyway.

Following are 2 events that I personally feel changed the atmosphere of comic books, both the Marvel Universe and the DCU

The marriage of the Wakandan King: T'Challa & X-Man Ororo Munroe. Oh my goodness, uniting the PRIVATE NO OUTSIDERS ALLOWED kingdom of Wakanda with Ororo, who is African but who's main roots and severe loyalty lies in the States. I loved when this happened.

Wonder Woman, who's main mission ispeace...takes the life of this dirtbag that would have sent Supes all over the world killing and doing dirty work. (Supes walks right into things and just ISN'T very 'people savvy as it is anyway)

Some Questions someone asked of me, and I thought I`d share the answers with you:

  • What's the greatest physical pleasure in the world for you?
    • Two things...tall cold grass under my bare beet and between my toes and the warm bubble bath that I'm sure to take later that night and soaking w/ my page-turner-can't-put-it-down book.
  • What would you rather have: A 50 degree day or a 105 degree day?
    • 105 degree day
  • What's your favorite candy?
    • CHICO STIX BABY!!!

Question: Why do so many people automatically regress to a sillified manner of speaking when typing? Does spelling and grammar go out of the window just because we're online? If i have witnessed 5 conversations with "da" for "the' or "gurl" for "girl" or "dey" for "they", I've witnessed 500.

People, lets try and maintain some dignity, some level of intelligence. Don't dummy yourself down because you think it's cool, because it's not. At all.

These are images of my chosen method of the preservation of my family memories. They're scrapbook pages, created digitally. I hope you enjoy them. If you'd like to see larger images of them, just let me know. I love showing off the girls. This is just one page, others are in my photos section.

These are images of the way I choose to instill pride and knowledge of African America History in my daughters. I prefer rather than just talk to them, to incorporate my art (scrapbooking) with the history. I hope you enjoy these slides. They're the beginnings of the first personal book of African American heritage I'm creating for my daughters. Here's one of the pages, you can see the others in my "photos" section. I would love to know what you think of them.

When you know you need to make a change...

Right...so you make it - don't you?

Let me just say that making lifestyle changes - especially ones that give your body a hard time - are hard to do. They're hard to begin and even harder to maintain.

I've begun a lifestyle change from fancifully free to a little more conservative and healthier. Starting with a 30 day fitness challenge. I've done 5 days and hopefully day 6 will be a little easier to complete.

~sigh~

In other wanderings...is there such a thing as a chatroom with... (continue reading)

Recently I've been toying with the idea of opening my BP blog to the BP members, in terms of question & response. I am considering some of the following topics for multiple posts per week and would love a little feedback.

1-National Awareness of [anything] as it pertains to the Black American community 2-Increasing our personal knowledge by offering up trivia facts and/or word of the day type postings 3-Tips on common sense (which unfortunately is not all that comment)... (continue reading)
