Who am I?

I'm a Beautiful Blessed Black Woman who, as days go by, is learning more about life. One thing that recently hit me was that words don't mean a thing if the actions don't follow. I've been told alot in my life, and although the realization should have hit me long ago....I definately know from experience now what that really means. So, I guess I'm becoming more attentive of what people say and how they act accordingly. Life does bring about wisdom. Just always be mindful of the personality you are portraying while plastering your pages with images and words that don't truly reflect who you are or who you are destined to be. Individuality is a blessing.

On this page, I won't disclose every aspect of my life but I can say that I'm intelligent and motivated. I honestly don't know what God has in store for me, so all I can do is wait and see what unfolds. I can say that I'm not typical. I know my soul is alot older than my body prefers, but I embrace that quality. I'm not motivated by parties or the hottest clothes or shoes out there (not everyone is, but you have to admit, it's the mindset and focus of many...). Groupthink should not be what defines lives. I know most will just see the picture and decide what to do, that's fine. I do thank you, personally, for taking the time to read what I have written. Love. Life. Live.

Have a beautiful day! and God Bless

    Something I wrote...

Think Twice

When was the last time you took the time to think of the state of the American mind? Day to day we Americans bustle back and forth around towns and cities running errands, completing tasks and taking time to enjoy tall lattes and cream cheese covered bagel. We are consumed and obsessed with ourselves and our needs; many times disregarding the well-being of our fellow man. As I sat watching the daily news, I witnessed hysteria personified. While in the midst of torrential rains and powerful winds, hundreds of Americans have found the time to form orderly lines outside local stores, so that they might purchase the highly coveted play station 3. This, in itself, seemed outrageous to me. An example such as this worries me in the worst way. Materialism has taken hold of the minds and bodies of Americans. We value our possessions and delegate them as the be all and end all of our lives. But what is the true cost of these worldly possessions? If Americans were half as worried about their fellow citizens or their souls as they were about ?things,? America would be in a better position to be the true World leader they claim to be. Until Americans wake up and begin to truly value things of worth, there will always continue to be utter hysteria.

Black Americans have replaced spirituality with the lust for possessions. We no longer hold strong to our Afro-centric ideology; now, we embrace the stringent Eurocentric world view. We are self-centered, individualistic, materialistic, calculated, and vain. We are our world. What we fail to see is that the world is so much more than ourselves. We are one; we are interconnected with our environment, which means that what you do, inherently, affects your fellow brothers and sisters. As long as you use your possessions as a symbol of worth, no one will take you seriously because you don?t act like you know. You don?t know that you are worshipping idol gods; you don?t realize that you?re attempting to overcompensate for an inadequate sense of self-worth. Embrace who you are and learn to prioritize. How important is a game system (that will be out of style in another year) when being compared to your brother or sister? How important is a Louis Vuitton purse when compared to Thanksgiving dinner at your moms? How important is any worldly possession when compared to the love of God? Afrocentrism says that you as a man or a woman should value interpersonal relationships, the oneness of our people, culture, faith, and harmony. You don?t need anything to show who you are, because what you are is a child of God and you are blessed. So, the next time you carelessly place things above people, think twice. 11/06

"The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously."  -Hubert Humphrey
