biba ¿¿¿the diva¿¿¿ adams has been working in the entertainment industry in Detroit for almost a decade. Beginning with an Image Consultation business, followed up with a fascination for Artist Development, and finally settling on multi-faceted entertainment marketing.
biba grew up in a musical family, her mother was in a gospel group that recorded with a Grammy award winning producer. ¿¿¿I spent a lot of late nights asleep on studio floors, or on TV, or sitting at a mixing board. The bug bit me at a young age, and it bit hard.¿¿¿ adams says laughing.
A Cass Tech graduate with a high school major in vocational music, biba is a self-described ¿¿¿Classic Gemini¿¿¿ who changed her college major four times before settling on History with a Business minor at Marygrove College in Detroit, where she is currently working to receive a certificate in Detroit Studies. ¿¿¿I would love to be a City Council member, maybe even Mayor of Detroit one day.¿¿¿
A woman with big dreams for the future and a history of excellence in her past, biba is making a big name for herself in the present. The Connex List calls her, ¿¿¿a great inspiration to young girls who aspire to work in the entertainment industry.¿¿¿ A fan of the writings of dream hampton and bell hooks, she also spells her name in lower case letters in tribute to these great African-American female writers.
biba is also a Spirit of Detroit Award winner; her voice was featured on the album, Cheers by Shady Records artist, Obie Trice, and she was in the film, 8 Mile. biba was the Artist Development Rep for Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corporation, the company that distributes music by Warner Bros., Elektra and Atlantic Records. After her major label stint, she returned to independence and wrote for Real Detroit Weekly. As a journalist, she wrote numerous cover stories, and interviewed 50 Cent, Russell Simmons, and many more artists and notable personalities.
Most recently, biba was the Publicist and Product Manager for Barak Records, and helped propel the careers of Slum Village, Phat Kat, and B.R. Gunna. She departed from this job just over a month ago with the desire to be of service to her community. ¿¿¿I want to be a catalyst for change in my city, that is why I am active in politics and community service. Some of the richest people, Oprah, Russell, all say that service is the way to be truly blessed, and to bless others.¿¿¿ biba says proudly.
Currently operating an independent entertainment marketing service, biba the diva specializes in College Radio promotions, Retail Consignment Management, Label Building, and Publicity. Her extensive contacts extend all over the world, and she makes frequent use of them for her growing client list. A member of The National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME), and The NAACP, biba the diva is a rising star in the International Music community.
